It must suck to be a fan of one of the worse franchises in pro sports. Go read the 2011 top 5 picks thread to see who you want in next years draft.

Anyways, John "Grouch" Steigerwald said that theory about Ben's motorcycle accident and his sexual deviancy is bullshit. He said he spoke to a doctor who said that didn't change Ben. Ben's just an asshole.

It's absolutely possible. Growing up our neighbor was a Neurosurgeon and always had stories about how people's behavior would change dramatically due to head trauma.

I also asked my gf, while she is only a veterinarian, she has studied a lot of neurology and said that since your whole thought process is basically just a bunch of electrical signals in your brain, that major trauma could in fact, drastically change your behavior and the way you analyze situations and your thought processes.

The fact that the Steelers have owned the Clowns the last 40 years, the only way you can get back at the Steelers is when one of their players screw up. The fact that the Steelers have been to 7 superbowls and the Clowns probably haven't been to 7 playoff games in that span must really eat at you guys.
I dont see any threads about the guy from the Colts that was accused of sexual assualt. How come he hasn't been suspended? The jealousy towards the Steelers is obvious on here.
Fuck Cleveland!!!!
Ya know, insults have progressed since you graduated middle school, you should check them out.

Browns fans would be on here worse were it not for the respect we have for a couple posters, and the organization in general, at least I would. You apparently don't have the ability to recognize the difference. So take pride in your ignorant self and continue to besmirtch to rational fans of the piss & black, you'll find most would rather you shut your fucking mouth than be associated with someone they'd consider no more worthy than shit they scraped off their shoe.

Funny you mentioned this. Not that a dog is a human, obviously, but when I was young, we had the nicest black lab....very docile dog. One day, the mailman ran over the side of his head with the mail truck. From then on out, if that dog would get anywhere near a kid it would bite him in the face. Obviously we had to put him down.

Yeah, not only has she told me stories like this, but our neurosurgeon neighbor would mention things like odd aggression and stuff after head trauma.

Shit, now that I even google it, whatever Doctor that Steigarwald talked to is a COMPLETE fucking moron. I guess it is a extremely EXTREMELY common side effect of trauma.
Complications are distinct medical problems that may arise as a result of the TBI. The results of traumatic brain injury vary widely in type and duration; they include physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral complications. TBI can cause prolonged or permanent effects on consciousness, such as coma, brain death, persistent vegetative state (in which awake patients are unaware of their surroundings),[95]

Haha the DA probably didnt take this case to trial because he knew Roethlisbergers lawyers would just go that route..."with his recent head trauma. there is no way Ben knew what he was doing"

It's not an excuse, it's just possibly some reason behind it. I mean hell when you google "brain trauma behavioral changes" the first website that comes up is one on how to cope with your loved ones extreme behavioral changes after a head trauma.

Wouldn't laugh. With the way the Lions have stocked up (and Roethlisberger missing 4 games) they may have more wins than the Steelers. Very impressed with what Schwartz and their (Lions) GM have done in the draft and FA.

No I agree with you..it would be a legit argument for Ben's case, and im sure the DAs knew this.

I will say one thing, if it can be proven that somehow the cycle accident or football related concussions are partially to blame for this, it opens a HUGE can of worms. Any time a player who has suffered some form of head trauma and gets involved with off the field issues, they can use that to fall back on. Not saying that's what will happen with Ben but it would set a precedent.

I mean it's not to say that he wasn't a douche, but why isn't anyone coming forward about him doing sexual assault type stuff in college, or hell even before the accident? And if he is having actual neurological issues, I am sure alcohol isn't helping any.

And you're right, I bet the DA didn't want to have to try to argue against that defense.

Its very puzzling..I mean you would say he probably was the man on campus and didnt need to "sexually assault" girls to get some...but hes very successful in the NFL so its not like hes a has been loser who cant get chicks.

Maybe there is just a higher volume of chicks hes hookin up with now more than ever, so with the more girls, the more problems he can run into?

I dont know, just trying to play Devils Advocate in Bens favor.

But there are plenty of "stories" that fall right in line with his recent douchebagery. I would think Ben would much rather be the stand up guy and take it like a man rather than fall back on some "temporary insanity" stuff that...well...let's face it...looks bad.

All this head trauma talk would be fine, but I think there might be a few instances of this behavior that may have never been reported from pre- accident days. Maybe from girls to scared (high school years) to say anything about "MR Findlay Football" or maybe even from Miami. IMO

I don't think he has tried to fall back on it at all. I don't think there are any stories that we know of from before the accident where he goes as far as he has in the stories after the accident. Sure he has always been a douchebag and a creeper, but it is a proven fact that trauma like his causes behavioral changes. And like I said, the alcohol isnt helping.
