Apparently Bucknuts was reporting that he had passed away and has now retracted that statement. Looks like there are conflicting reports all over the place, but hopefully he pulls through.

Youngstown news outlets have mentioned nothing of a death yet.

(FWIW, they are AWFUL at updating their websites, so who knows)

I wait for more details until I say whether it's unfortunate or not. I do hope it was wrong place at the wrong time.

Any person who loses their life at such a young age is unfortunate regardless of circumstance. Grow up.

Sorry to hear this. Hopefuly he will straighten his life out. Sounds like football will probably not be happening, at least not at OSU.

It is sad to see this kid waste so much talent. Hopefully he recovers and turns his life around.

I hope he come through okay, but IMO,Coach Tressel should cut ties with this kid right now--I mean, being involved in not one shooting, but two?? red flag city,JT !!!

Tressel wouldn't "cut ties with this kid right now", when he's in critical condition. That would be dumber than your request.

"right now" can mean figuratively as well as literally--I didn't mean to go up to his hospital room today and do it...

btw,I'd like to hear why you think it's a "dumb request" to sever ties with this kid??

No kidding. If he does recover and can qualify going to OSU would probably be the best thing for him. From what I understand of his situation his family is the problem and he has lived with coach's in high school to stay out of trouble, but everytime he moves back with his family he gets in trouble. Going to columbus and getting out of ytown would probably help this kid more than anything.

after it happened once,maybe--but twice? I'm all for second chances and all,and I'm confident that JT will make a decision with the kid's best interest at heart, but this is pretty extreme..JMO

In addition to the two shootings, the kid was also arrested with guns, drugs, and ski masks in his car. Hopefully he survives and turns his life around, but I feel OSU should pull his scholarship.

He was away from his family at Fork Union and still got kicked out. So what makes you think that OSU will be the thing that changes this kid?

Good point. I am not sure if that was because he isn't all that smart (why he didn't succeed at FU) or because of his own doings.

vball, reading isn't one of your strong suits either. PLEASE show us where I said Tressel shouldn't "sever ties". The question is when. Only a fool would make the "dumb request" before the kid get's off the critical list. Surely you don't want bad news from Ohio State to even have the appearance of negatively affecting Turner's condition or limiting his recovery. Even someone as dumb as this kid surely must have an inkling that his football scholarship is long gone.....WAS long gone BEFORE the 2nd shooting.

Maybe I've missed the latest article, but to my knowledge, the kid wasn't doing anything criminal when he was shot. If someone comes to my house tonite and puts 7 bullets in me, should I be fired from my job??

I never gave an exact timetable,I just stated an opinion,so please--stop with the insults, and remember --it's always better to be perceived a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Word is he'll make it but will not ever play football again. Does that mean he's paralyzed or permanently disabled in some manner? Damn shame this kid could have helped OSU.
