Since we've had a lot of talk comparing Crosby and Ovechkin in recent times, I figured I'd add this. I realize this is only 6-7 games in what should be long careers, but I think this little span may be kind of telling, since in the big-time playoff games, you expect the elite players to step up.

Crosby -- 6 games, 14 points. 8 in 4 wins, 6 in 2 losses.

Ovechkin -- 7 games, 10 points. 7 in 3 wins, 3 in 4 losses.

Crosby had a great series against the #5 seed and led the Pens to a 4-2 win. Ovechkin was great in his team's three wins against the #8 seed, but was pretty weak in the four losses. He shot a lot tonight, but his only point was an assist on a play that, when it comes down to it, was all the goal-scorer, who made a great play to score.

Simply put, one guy brought it in this round...and one guy was NOTHING when adversity raised its head.

^^^^^Bottom lines, Ovechkin can't win the big games and Crosby does it on a routine basis.

Yep. Ovey was held in check all night. He had 1 good look.
Since game 4, the Caps offense was pathetic, and that was due to awesome defense by the Habs.

It is pretty funny to listen to the Washington media as they are saying this is the biggest collapse in Caps history and that the blame shouldn't go to Ovey, but the whole team.
Oh, and Caps fans are blaming the no goal on the loss too.

Sharks knock off the Red Wings to open round 2, 4-3.

Why the quick turnaround for them to start the 2nd round? The Eagles already had HP Pavilion booked for a concert Friday and Saturday. Now, they get an extended break before Game 2.

NHL needs to flex their muscle. Last year the WWF had Monday Night Raw booked at the Pepsi Center, then the Nuggets made the Conf. Finals. They told WWF to get the fuck out to make room for a playoff game. To rub it in, McMahon moved Raw to the home arena (Staples Ctr.) of the opponent (Lakers)... haha.

It'll be the Bruins in 7 tho.

Btw, Jordan Staal is out for the rest of the series against MTL with a severed tendon in his foot.

In a great OT, the Bruins win 5-4, taking game 1. Great goaltending in the OT.

Savard with the winning goal on a rolling puck, slapshot. Great story, it was his first game in 2 months.

As the Pens and Habs are over, 3-1 Habs, there was 1 game last night and 1 game tonight.

The Canucks just dominated the Hawks last night, beating them 5-1. It was complete and utter domination on all aspects of the game. Going to be very interesting to see how Chicago responds.

Tonight, 8:00pm, Vs.
Game 2, 5. Wings at 1. Sharks. Sharks lead 1-0.
I'll take the Wings tonight in a close one.

Summary of the series so far:
East:
4. Pens vs. 8. Habs, Series tied 1-1.
6. Bruins vs. 7. Flyers, Bruins lead 1-0

West.
1. Sharks. vs. 5. Wings, Sharks lead 1-0
2. Hawks vs. 3. Canucks, Canucks lead 1-0

^^^^

That's the problem. I am not confident they can do it. I am also not confident in the Hawks goaltending right now.

Boston defeats Philly 3-2 to take a two games to none lead in the series.

Vancouver leads Chicago 2-1 after a period of play.

2-2 Van and Chi midway thru 3.
This series is going to be killer on both teams. I look for Vancouver to advance though.

This Bruins team has "the touch" this offseason, I'm convinced of it. They're winning all 1-goal games, getting solid goaltending when it matters, and timely goals from across the spectrum of players. It's a recipe for playoff success, and it's great to see Boston (a hockey town at heart) buzzing about the B's.

That said, as has been said in the past, the series doesn't start until a home team loses - if the Bruins manage to take game 3 on the road in Philly on Wednesday, it would be just huge. The Flyers ain't coming back from a 3-0 hole, not with Tuukka in net. However, I predict they lose game 3 and come back with a better effort in game 4, go on to win in six, and head to the conference finals for the first time since 1992.

Update of the series so far:
East:
4. Pens vs. 8. Habs, Series tied 1-1.
6. Bruins vs. 7. Flyers, Bruins lead 2-0

West.
1. Sharks. vs. 5. Wings, Sharks lead 2-0
2. Hawks vs. 3. Canucks, series tied lead 1-1

Tonight 2 games:
Game 3: 4. Pens vs. 8. Habs, 7:00pm
Game 3: 1. Sharks. vs. 5. Wings, 7:30pm

I expect the Pens to find ways to get past Halak and win. I see the Wings also beating the Sharks tonight. No way do the Wings go down 3-0.

Boston is playing really, really well. They are really clicking. I can easily see them sweeping the Flyers.
Also, a great win and a must win for the Hawks last night. They needed to win that game after the thrashing in game 1.
