For violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Holmes has one more year left on his contract and obviously it will be his last as a Steeler if he makes it that far.

Makes sense now why the Steelers brought in several receivers for visits. They may have been aware of this when they signed Randle El and Arnaz Battle.

Big 10 WR's who catch a game-winning TD pass in the Super Bowl are fucking morons.

Sincerely,
Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress

I would say as well this is his last year as a Steeler.

Loved him at OSU, but he's got some serious issues. Pretty pathetic.

He's a damn good WR and has been for the Steelers, problem is he just lives a "I don't give a fuck" lifestyle and always has.

His "I don't give a fuck lifestyle" may get him booted out of the NFL someday.

I was a big fan of his at OSU as well.

That's his problem. Of course, him being dumb off the field is going to hurt his earning potential.... well maybe not I am sure someone will pay him top receiver money just to get him when his contract is up with the Steelers.

Serve the suspension and move on. I'd like to keep him in Pittsburgh, but if they decide not to, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Pretty much true. Talent + fame - anything resembling a sense of perspective = Santonio.

Read an article that this will likely be his last year, regardless. Have heard he "wants to go to a larger market and feels the Steelers won't give him his 'true' value."

Yeah that's absolutely true.

Neither side wants to pursue a long-term deal.

Holmes wants to make more money than the Steelers will pay and he probably can put up better stats and make more pro bowls and those kinds of things in the right system.

The Steelers were already reluctant about signing him before all this happened and now definitely will not.

That's not a big deal, though. Same thing happened with Burress and the Steelers moved on. Some guys get drafted and play for 10 years but you can't expect everyone to be that way.

Mike Wallace will be a big-time receiver. He's capable of putting up 1,000 yards consistently with a high yards per catch average.

The big difference is Wallace catches a lot of passes down the field beyond 15 yards where as Holmes is good at catching the quick passes and slants. That has become a big part of the Steelers offense. They like to throw those passes on the early downs to get some cheap yards, basically like a glorified running play.

I'm not going to defend this. He is an Ohio State Buckeye and is making a fool of himself. I hope he drops out of the league.

I wish. I think Tate and Wallace would be a nice tandem for the future.

I just don't see how they'll get Tate.

They'll probably take OL or CB at No. 18 and Tate won't be there at No. 52 so they'll have to do some maneuvering.

lol....I know you are a Notre Dame fan...but no way do I want Tate at 18. I think he will be OK in the league, but not good enough that Pittsburgh NEEDS to take him at that spot.

No doubt that the Steelers have more pressing needs than WR and it's very unlikely that they would opt for one at 18. But a few of us have talked about it before......Tate is very Hines Ward-like. Sure, I'm an ND fan....but other than seeing all of his games in college.....Tate is just a helluva player that I'd take on the Steelers in a heartbeat. Not because he played for ND but because he's a playmaker.

Almost every mock I've seen has him going to the Jets in the late 1st. I truly believe that Tate will be a very good WR in the NFL for years. He makes some incredibly tough catches and he is something special after the catch. He also will break off his route and do all he can to get open when his QB is flushed out of the pocket and we know how Ben holds the ball a little too long at times and runs around looking for somebody to throw to. I think he and Ben would work well together.

I wish the Steelers would pick him but they have greater needs elsewhere and he'll be off the board by the time they're on the clock for their 2nd pick.

What did the PPG say he tweeted......"wake and bake" referring to gettin stoned.

Gotta wonder if he will be able to stay clean ya know.

Typically you get a "pass" on your first dirty test..get placed into the leauge's after care program for recreational drugs. I dont know if his arrest a couple years ago landed him into this program or if he tested positive already. League doesnt release when a player tests positive for that the first time. So..he may have tested + already and then again and is getting a 4 game rip.

The charges were dropped in that case not because he was innocent..but they deemed the stop by cops as no probably cause. So...yeah..he had the fatty in there..

'Disruptive' Santonio Holmes Escorted Off Pittsburgh Flight

Posted: 10:41 am EDT April 30, 2010
Updated: 12:28 pm EDT April 30, 2010

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes had to be escorted off a plane Thursday night at Pittsburgh International Airport, investigators said.

Channel 11 News reporter Renee Kaminski said the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Investigators said Holmes wasn't arrested but was escorted off the plane for what they call being a "disruptive passenger."

The plane was docked at Gate D77 when a "disturbance" involving an iPod and refusal to comply with flight crew demands was reported, investigators said.

Earlier in the night, the following tweet was posted to Homes' Twitter account: "Only guy on the plane headed to Pitt from NJ, wearing my green n white. GO JETS!"

Earlier this month, the New York Jets acquired the talented but troubled wide receiver from the Steelers in return for a fifth-round pick in the NFL draft.

It's not that what he did on the plane may be considered "significant" but the dumbass should be seen and not heard at this point. If he's riding out a 4 game suspension, the LAST thing he should be doing is drawing ANY negative attention toward himself.
