Here is my first and only post on this subject.

1. All I know about DNA testing is what I have learned from watching CSI. I suppose everyone else here has the same level of DNA evidence education. The DA in Georgia said there was not enough DNA evidence to get an accurate profile of whose DNA was found in the girl. I have no idea how accurate that is. However, he is cleared of all charges. You can call bullshit all you want, but that is the way America works. You know someone or pay someone you walk. I expect the local sheriff's department involved in the case might be getting a new cruiser or two this year when it looked like there was no room in the budget for them.

2. Goodell will be hard pressed to suspend BR. Two allegations in two years with no proof of guilt, can be construed that BR is no more than a victim of gold digging here. I see him have some mandated counseling to avoid situations where he can be accused of further allegations. This would also be true if he were non white as well. You cheapen the race argument if you use it in EVERY situation. Save it for when you need it.

3. The Rooney's will give BR yet another chance, but he will be on a shorter leash. Of they suspend him instead of the league, he can appeal, and will probably win the appeal. One thing I have always respected the Rooney's for is their old school style of managment. They have had to hold a hard line on that in recent years, again because BR is guilty of nothing but putting himself in stupid situations, the team will forgive, buit not forget.

4. BR is an average quarterback on a team with a good system and good players who make him look better. Especially early in his career, his supporting cast was terrific. He did develop into a better QB but is still a wild card in that offense, he hurts it as much as he helps it. I would argue he should have been the MVP of their last Super Bowl win instead of Holmes. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

5. As a Steelers fan, they could keep him or trade him (out of the conference, and for decent talent in return), and that would be fine with me. I don't see him as the future of the franchise.

Im not an expert on DNA either....but I have read some reports that shows like CSI, Law and Order and such have given the general public a misconception on how "easy" those things are to prove and such.

I am a forensic science/CJ major in college, not an expert though.

Its called the CSI effect that has misguided how juror members and the general public view DNA evidence and its capabilities. You don't get DNA samples analyzed between commercials, half the equipment those shows use do not exist, nor do their procedures even meet the standards of real life forensics.

I haven't read the details on the DNA portion of Ben's case. Could anyone give an overview?

If the female truly wants to push the topic, she could pay up some serious cash to try and get the DNA samples analyzed by private forensic labs. If she really thinks that there may be some relationship between Ben and the sheriff's office etc.

Well, aside from the fact there was not enough DNA found for them to test, and perhaps of a type they could not test...Focus on the fact they did not have probable cause for a warrant. So I'd guess that means the reports of Ben admitting to sexual contact were inaccurate at best.

Wow, I suggest you read the DA's presser. He stated clearly that they found no semen when the administered the rape kit at the hospital.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/13/boston-attorney-says-he-investigated-another-roethlisberger-incident/

another incident?

Boston attorney Harry Manion joined the Dennis & Callahan show Tuesday morning and said that he was recently involved in an investigation into an incident involving Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger that was similar to last month’s situation at a Georgia nightclub for which Roethlisberger faces a possible suspension from the NFL.

“Six months ago I was retained by a client of mine and a close friend to investigate allegations against Ben Roethlisberger in a Las Vegas nightclub that were absolutely identical to this Georgia girl’s story,” said Manion, a partner at the firm of Cooley Manion Jones, LLP and a frequent guest of WEEI. “The outcome was that the young woman did not want to proceed, and we did not take any action. There is a history here — and I can’t say any further because we never proceeded with it — but there is a history here that is just super troubling.”

Even if they had found his semen in the girl that wouldn't be definitive proof of any wrong doing. Having sex isn't illegal in the least sense.

Either way, we'll never know because the DA and the police didn't find enough evidence in a month to even charge him. And the girl who was supposedly assaulted didn't want charges pressed anyway so why should we?

There is DNA evidence available (although small), GBI noted it as a male profile but wouldn't be able to narrow it down to Ben. So there was sexual contact between a male (probably Ben) and the female.

Its all pointless as the female doesn't want to proceed with any sory of investigation. Probably a good thing due to her being drunk and not being able to take the stand without getting hammered by the defense. It will end up going to civil court where the burden of proof is significantly reduced. Ben will probably end up settling out of court with some sum of money.

End the end, whether Ben took advantage of these girls or not, he needs to realize that he cannot put himself in these situations anymore.

Yeah. I read a Yahoo Sports blog about Bradshaw's comments. For all his reputation for being less than a genius, at least Bradshaw had the common sense and perspective to not put himself in situations where (whether he actually acted in the wrong or not) negative repercussions could easily be the end result.

Another incident in Las Vegas where the women didn't want to pursue.

And these type of incidents happen all the time where individuals are victims of sexual acts and just don't want to go through the experiences all over again with the investigation, trial etc. They would rather just move on and try to repair their lives.

I think they should trade Ben and try to get Tebow.

If they can get a first rounder and either a 2nd or 3rd from another team I'd do it.

Not sure if they could get that in return but probably since he's still only 28 and is coming off a 4,000-yard season.

I don't really count Reed's. If he's guilty of anything it's just being a douchebag. I'm waiting for him to be invited as a guest star on "Jersey Shore."

How about you just cut your racial bullshit?

Porter was released becasuse of a roster bonus and he was getting old

Plaxico left on his own
On January 23, 2005, after a playoff defeat, Burress announced his intentions to leave the Steelers. On March 17, he signed a six-year, $25 million contract with the New York Giants.[4]
