Why? This just seems like a dumb money grab.

If I were to make a bet I'd say they won't go thru with it.

this is where i fall. feels like a classic case of:

  1. announce bad thing
  2. get backlash about bad thing
  3. "compromise" by offering some other alternative which was their goal all along.

i suspect they'll do the above and just keep a static menu while raising prices. when they're called out for raising prices, the general sentiment from the company will be "you told us you wanted this".

I mean, they likely lose business if they are the only ones, right? I’m just going to Culver’s or whatever at that point. I’ll skip the potential of paying more when I like 17 fast food burger places in a 5 min drive of my house lol.

Same. There’s a Wendy’s on the way to my kids school and if they pulled this shit then there’s a Chipotle, McDonalds, Frisch’s, Taco Bell, Popeye’s, Arby’s, and Jimmy John’s all within a half mile. I’d purposely not go to Wendy’s at that point.

I couldn't tell you the last time I actually went to a Wendy's. Almost all of my fast food dining is done at McDonald's (the app makes it cheap), Skyline, or Chipotle.

Right, deals on McDonald’s app always, and I’ll do TB. I feel like Wendy’s has already increased prices, $11 for a spicy chicken combo is nuts. Chick fil a is high too, but the quality of restaurants and service aren’t even close.

I will go to Wendy’s to buy frosty’s for the kids after grandparents introduced that…

I feel like they will do this at 2am when you are drunk and hungry and will pay for the only thing open is my guess. probably the only time people would overpay for trash food.

I usually get a Big Mac (or QPC) and a 10 piece nuggy for about $5 thru the app.

Wendy's is still my favorite, but I have almost completely cut out fast food. When I do get it, its a "Saturday night splurge meal" or something. So -- we will class it up and go Five Guys, Shake Shack, Culvers, etc...

We have 2 Chipotles 5 minutes from my house, but also a Guzman y Gomez, which is a better version of burritos so I go with that. They also have a "mini" option. I can keep burritos extremely healthy with the protein, beans, rice, lettuce, etc. Really only the cheese is doing damage. So i dont feel bad getting that as a normal meal.

My problem with Wendy's has always been the vastly inconsistent cleanliness of their stores and the "heat lamp effect" of their burgers.  Compared to McDonald's, I find Wendy's to have dirtier stores and a much higher chance of serving me a dried out burger that's been sitting there.  It's gotten more frequent during the past 25 years.  Dave Thomas would  not be proud.

Yeah, this has been my experience as well.

The closest Wendy's to me has been pretty good as far as quality goes, but I probably only hit it up 5-6 times a year, so for all I know, I've just been lucky and it's actually a 50/50 chance every time through. Rare that I eat fast food  -- pretty much only if I'm really hungry, don't want to cook anything and don't feel like a sit-down place -- but they're my go-to as far as quick burgers go.

I don’t think the heat lamp has been a thing in 15 years. Back in the day McDonalds food stayed in the warning bin for up to 20 min before we threw it out. Meat stayed in the warming cabinet for up to 20 min. Wasn’t often but meat could basically be 40 min old if you had some bad timing. Those places are much more fresh to order than 20 years ago

I just used it as an expression to describe the dried out nasty tasting burgers I’ve gotten at Wendy’s
