Lol he started in like 96 97...pretty sure im not 12 so I got to watch his entire career not just the last part of it. Even those who HATE AI can admit hes a fierce competitor. If anyone here didnt watch him it was you(which you admitted to not watching bball anymore) So im not quite sure where you're going with that.

Lol and lumping everyone into one big group is smart? Let me go find 1 meathead wrestler and then use him as an example to lump 90% of wrestlers into a stereotype.

I actually did watch during the early part of his career...that was when I was watching the most. It is guys like him who made me hate watching.

I guess you and I have different opinions of what being a competitor is and what it means to take your sport seriously. All of his off the court problems and his complete lack of work ethic tell me he wasnt a competitor and didnt take his sport seriously. How much more could he have been had he dedicated his off season to making himself and his teammates better?

^^^right...I mean it's not AI's fault he was always on shitty clubs. But I think his style of play is what kept him from being desired by "team" oriented squads. He was pigeon holed as a selfish player because he had poor support.

Maybe the better teams didnt want him because of the cancer they knew he would be to their team?

DefinatelyTHIS!!!!
The dedication of a wrestler and the conditioning is phenomenal. To those on the outside...it just cant be explained...people are simply too ignorant.

You act like no other sports players are conditioned or dedicated lol. Do wrestlers suffer from the sports version of "little man syndrome"

The only people who use the "roll around on the floor with men" comment are the ones who are A) not secure enough with themselves and B) couldnt succeed in a sport like wrestling where hard work, dedication, and mental toughness are paramount. Go play with your balls.

What you wont see in wrestling is chest thumping idiots who celebrate each score like they won a world championship. More often than not you will see a wrestler win a major title and act like they have done it a million times and celebrate in a modest way...or be so tired from laying it all on the line that they cant even lift their arms to celebrate. That is what I love about the sport.

How many athletes in these other games would have the mental toughness to do what J Jaggers did his junior year to finish out the win for the National Title? Kid couldnt even stand up and finished the match for the win.

I havent watched basketball since Michael Jordan retired because I dont believe there has been a player since him who was worthy of being called a competitor. The NBA is full of whining babies like Allen Iverson who dont even respect their sport enough to take it seriously.
Definitely.

Enjoy both amateur wrestling and basketball, don't much care for the professional versions of either.

Go to the state wrestling tournament or any decent tournament and say that. Even dual meets in some places can draw some good crowds. I remember the last dual meet of my junior season which was to decide who won the league. It was standing room only and the paper put the attendance at around 2000. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

I really don't have a problem with basketball other than the need to showboat after practically every score. I feel the same way about football too. Act like you've been there.

Yeah...its not bad, but in comparison to basketball its nothing really.

You never see top wrestling recruits showcased on ESPN during primetime for regular season games like bball and football

Which is disappointing. I don't think the popularity of either sport is especially indicative of the inherent quality of the competition or dedication and skill of its competitors.

At least basketball doesn't have to deal with Title IX closing down all the college programs.

Agreed.

These pissing contests are stupid. It's like fighting over a sit in the back of school bus.
