thanks for posting that. this has come up a million times on here so i didnt feel like posting it again haha.

I should just bookmard the damn page because im on a few sites and people always bring it up. I had one page I had found that had the stats through the 2008-9 season but i just did a very quick search and found this one.

still..I would like to see a TWEAK in the system....both teams get at least one possession. I dont know if i like the whole have to score six points thing. Just makes ure each team is assured of one possession.

Youll never see it go like HS or college. They may be fun to see alot of scoring...but it really is a joke to the game of football. I think in OT ya should play as close to the normal rules as possible with the actual on the field stuff. Taking away the punts, KO's, decisions to go for it......all are taken away in the HS and college game.

52% versus 43% is a sigificant discrepancy in my book. The rule needs to be changed.

IN the college or HS game...I wonder what percentage of teams who get the ball SECOND if the OT win the actual game? I bet the number is pretty damned close to that of the NFL OT.

I offered up a suggestion above whereby a simple coin flip would not give an edge. Would the outcome be 50-50? Dunno. The point is...the winner of the flip has won 26% more often that the loser of the coin toss.

No...but my suggestion and others' suggestion would result in games being a lot closer to 50-50...and as a result, be a lot fairer.

Not a good analogy in my opinion. Baseball strategy throughout the game is with the understanding that if the game is tied, the home team will have the afvantage. In football, there is no such advantage. The coin flip will give the "winner" of the call a 26% better chance of winning. This ties into the baseball adage...you play to get ahead on the road, and you play to tie at home.

Very well could be. I think the OT rules in college should be changed as well. Their set up sucks too.
