I wish the Cavs could have landed Stoudemire, but it's hard to complain when you give up nothing to improve your team.

I've seen where many have said that it adds depth, but I think that's overrated come playoff time. No one uses their bench much in the NBA finals, so now you have to choose between Hickson and Jamison because only one can play. If that's the case and you can only play one PF anyways, I personally would have rather had Stoudemire.

We got rid of Z. Idk if we really needed him anyway cuz of Shaq and Varejao.

Amare doesnt play d or grab rebounds. He is always injured and plays with no heart. If you don't follow the NBA and just see the highlights he looks great but realistically he is selfish and plays bad D. Read Bill Simmons trade value top 40 for more on Amare. Who the hell would want him especially givng up Hickson who has been playing amazing latly. Z will be back in 30 days when his contract is bought out. Jamison on the other hand has an amazing 18 footer which means when you double team LBJ he can kick it out to one of the mid range jump shots in the NBA. The only negitive is that we had to take Telfair in this trade. This is the trade that will put in Cavs in the finals and hopefully give them enough to beat the Lakers and Kobe.

They should be in uniform by Sunday easily. I bet we see them in attendence tommorow night while waiting for the trade to go through all the league approvals.

Yes! This is the scenario I wanted. Keep Hickson, give him a few more years to grow, and land the "stretch 4". Definitely no way the Magic are knocking us out of the playoffs now. Dwight Howard shut down by Shaq, now Rashad Lewis shut down by Jamison.

Jamison is no great defender either. He further allows the Cavs to stretch the floor for Lebron to drive and kick to someone but I am looking at this deal further down the line. Does Jamison put them over the top? I don't think he does. He makes them deeper and slightly better but not over the top. I don't think this makes them better than the Lakers but it pulls them closer. Assuming they get Z back after he probably gets waived, where do all of the minutes go now? Jamison, Hickson, Varejao will clog up the minutes at the 4 and someone will not be on the court as much. Probably have to give them about 3-4 games to really get into a groove but this furthers the Cavs to the front of the East.

I would imagine Jamison will play Sunday. Telfair is hurt, so he won't play for a while, and I don't care if he ever plays for us. We have three PGs better than Telfair.

I would rather have Jamison. Z will most likely be back because of some odd thing in his contract. He can go on wavers then the cavs can pick him back up. I don't like trading him though IMO. He has given too much to the cavs over the years. I hope they let him go on wavers and he comes back.

After evaluating this deal, I do prefer Jamison. Remember also Jamison can hit the 3 pointer on occasion too! Telfair is not bad, he is a distributor. What will be the rotation? Mo, West, Gib, Parker, and Telfair? If so, that is not bad. Not including our new lineup in the front court. Can't wait! Go Cavs. Barring no injuries, I feel really good about our chances for a NBA title. Love it!

Telfair is junk. I hope the Cavs do the right thing and buy him out and cut him.

there is no such thing as having too many point gaurds on the roster. I think Bassy will stay in a Cavs uniform primarily because Dan Gilbert doesn't have much of an issue with paying one of the last guys on the bench 2.5 million

The big story is that the Cavs kept JJ Hickson. The less I see of Jamison, the happier I'll be. Jamison will bring back memories of Larry Hughes.

Telfair is garbage, he'll never play ahead of mo, boobie, delonte, and even lebron at the point. he will be cut for sure, at least once Z comes back.

Anyone this the Wiz could F the cavs and keep Z. I'd be devastated if that happened.

I think the Jamison comparison to Hughes could be true. Not for this year so much but I could see him being a big bust over the next 2 years. Hughes was entering his supposed prime and supposed to be the pippen to lebron. i don't think the expectations for jamison are as high but if he sucks he will hurt the cavs over the next couples years payroll-wise just like hughes did.

Nah, I don't see it..

Hughes had ONE breakout year were EVERYBODY including the Cavs were fooled by him.

Antawn has done this throughout his career. In 2 years, he'll be 36, not exactly ideal, but not terrible by any means. He is a smart player and has a wide variety of moves that aren't about dunking or getting to the rim, so he'll be fine.

However, we only need him to be good this year and next.. After next season, he becomes a nice expiring contract..

But, by next season, JJ should be ready or close to being ready for taking the next step in his career. You'll also have Leon Powe next season as well as Andy.. Antawn won;t be relied to do as much here. He's not our second scoring threat. Hell, on some nights he may be the 4th option..

This is nothing like Hughes. At all.

This is all fine and good assuming the Cavs win a title this year. Jamison will be the #2 option next season, just ahead of Mo. Ferry wouldn't have made this trade thinking he will get anything less than that out of him next year.

As for Hughes, maybe you aren't old enough to remember but he was a stud out of college, early draft pick, and i think first team all nba defense. He was real young when he got into the nba but he had several very solid seasons.

Like you said Jamison won't be relied on to do as much since there is more talent on the team, but he's making almost 30mil over 2 years when the cap is only going to get smaller. The days of stealing a stud for an expiring contract are over, hopefully he will still be good enough in 2012 that they won't need to trade him. The thing that scares me is all this money will be tied up in bron, andy, and antwan. What if mo and delonte can't get it done again this year, they have no flexibility and no young talent at the guard position.

They just need to get the job done this season.
