No, I know what Hughes did in college, but seriously, that contract year is what got him paid, not his body of work..

It was a career year for him. I know he had a great year in GS before that, but quickly fell back down to earth the following seasons, until that outburst in Washington.

I get what you're saying about the risk involved, there is no doubt about that.. However, just get us ONE title and I'll be very happy haha..

We have a nice young core with LeBron, JJ, Mo, Delonte, Powe, and at times Boobie.. Good enough that we should be able to plug in various role players at a given time to keep us at this level.

With the cap getting smaller, it not only hurts us, but other teams such as LA, Miami, NY, Dallas, etc.. And if a hard cap comes, we may see the days of 1 superstar and a bunch of role players on a team.. No doubt the things are changing in the NBA soon.

You must not have ever seen him play then.

LeBron makes everyone better so if Jamison was above average he will now be outstanding. Confidence breeds confidence. Jamison may be upset now but once he reports and gets to know the team I think his personality will fit right in and how can you not want to play for a contender and with LeBron and Shaq who may just go down as two of the best to ever play the game. Jamison is now along for the ride. He should enjoy it. Titles don't come easy. Just ask LBJ.

GO CAVS

For the record I hope we get Z back. Sure would be a shame if we win it this year and he isn't a part of it cause he will always be a

What makes you think Jamison isn't happy? The guy is 33 and wants a title. He's been a leader for washington for years and them sending him to cleveland had a lot to do with the saving money, but a little of the people involved with the wizards wanted to see him get a ring. He deserves one.

I'm guessing he is happier than a pig in mud right now.

I saw a cop slip and fall in mud before at Blossom and he wasn't very happy.

I remember watching Jamison vs. the Cavs a couple years ago when Butler and Agent 0 were out and Jamison was carrying the team. They got swept, but Jamison was unstoppable. Hopefully the wiz buyout Z and he makes his return to the Cavs because he deserves to be a part of this.

I read an article where it stated he wouldn't speak to reporters and seemed upset after being told. I'll try and find the article but I have read so many I can't remember which paper it was.

I read that article. He had to leave the arena last night before the game because of the trade. Nothing was in stone yet so while making his way to his car he just told reporters 'Not now'. I assume he just wanted his agent to do his talking for him when the time was right.

Yea it's just kinda like when the Indians traded Victor. At first he was just shocked but then it sunk in that he would be better off and he was ok. Jamison is in the same boat. He is at home in Washington but I am sure after it sinks in he will be fine. Doesn't matter who you are nobody likes change unless you are totally unhappy and want out but I don't think that was the case with Jamison.

I really like the move. Amare would not have been good fit in Cleveland, and he and Shaq had issues in the past . Keeping JJ was also a good move IMO. Z will be back, so all in all we've got the right deal done.

Now, will this win us a ring this year????

I think we could have won one without it but this definitely helps our chances.

It almost is never a bad thing when you add a player who averages 20 points a game to your team. Especially considering all we gave up is the 30th pick in the draft and emir pretzeldick. It certainly will help our team.

Honest question, why does everybody feel like bringing Z back is a "must"? He is a shell of his former self, and his return will have an even more negative impact on JJ Hickson's development in a roundabout way. As it stands now, Jamison and Hickson will be the PFs (with Powe returning soon), and Shaq and Varejao will be playing the bulk of the minutes at center.

If Z returns, he takes some of Varejao's minutes at center meaning that Varejao will take some minutes from Hickson at PF.

Z deserves it. He was here when LeBron wasn't. He's been a loyal soldier, and the organization feels a sense of loyalty to the guy. Z could have packed it in a couple times already with all the foot issues he's had. Has he lost a step? no doubt he has. Has he found ways to contribute despite his lack of effectiveness as a Big...yep.

He's not going to last much longer anyway, so the minutes he takes from JJ or AV are really irrelevant.

People want to see Z win a ring with the Cavaliers. That's really all there is to it.

I just hate to see decisions based on emotional appeals. It's a business. Not a charity.

Did he not just get traded because of his expiring? Sounds pretty business oriented to me.

We'll gladly take him back, he does provide solid minutes off the bench and contribute when he's in there. But like I said, he won't be able to last too much longer.

Organizations that are loyal to their players make it easier for other players to come play there. Just a thought.....
It would be nice to see an owner being loyal to one of it's players or visa versa in today's business that we call professional sports....JMO.

Because the combo of Z/Shaq worked very good against LAL in the 1st match up.

Having a 7'3 C that is able to hit jump shots and is amazing around the rim with tips.

He may be a shell of his former self, but there is a reason contending teams like Dallas and Denver are going after him.

This is also gonna be Z's last go around and he gels with the team really well. The only time he has really hurt the Cavs was with how slow he was in the ECF last year. Against most teams he is more them a serviceable center and provides backup at what will be a cheap price when he comes back.

As for Z's contract the way the NBA works is that the Wizards can choose to buy him out meaning they offer him a few mil less then he is owed (saving them money and opening cap space). Then according to NBA rules he must not sign with the Cavs for 30 days. After those 30 days he is basically a free agentto everyone. Z will then most likly resign with the cavs for the Vet's minimum for the rest of the season. From eveything I have read Z is retiring after this season.

sports, Z can sign with anyone except the Cavaliers right away after he gets bought out.

Cleveland will probably offer him the BAE which is worth around 1.99 mil.
