Hockey is hard yes, but it certainly isn't the hardest to achieve. Hell winning the college football national championship is harder because in some circumstances, you lose 1 and you are done.

And an NHL season isn't long? We can agree do disagree, the road to the Stanley Cup is the hardest IMO and I love soccer.

BTW, qualification for the World Cup is not as hard as you make it out to be. The majority of the qualification groups generally have only one world power in them followed by a decent team and then countries that just can't compete at that level. Not that it hasn't happened but you rarely see a world soccer power not make the World Cup finals.

Writer - it's not just about attendance but I brought that up because someone else did. Mrs. Davidson hopefully won't sell the team to someone who wants to take the team somewhere else. I highly doubt the Pistons move out of Detroit. Would be like the Celtics moving out of Boston or the Lakers moving from LA. Just won't happen, hopefully.

World Cup qualification is difficult, I'm not disputing this at all. The four year comments are facts but it's not as grueling as most would like to think. These qualifiers are spread out over a very long period of time, they go months in between games and as I posted earlier, the soccer powers are afforded an easier path by seeding. IMO, the 32 team World Cup finals are harder than qualifying but not as hard as it is to win the Stanley Cup. In the NHL playoffs your playing a game just about every other night for over two months, that is if you make the Stanley Cup finals.

I'm not sure I follow you on that one. If you're refering to an internaitonal team compared to a pro team, I would strongly disagree with you. With a few exceptions, most national teams in any sport are weaker than their pro counterparts. Not to say that certain countries do not produce better players in certain sports but comparing internationals to pro teams isn't even close IMO.

I'm pretty sure 100% capacity is pre-determined seating. Seats that are available for regular sale. For instance, the capacity for a hocley game at Mellon Arena is different than let's say a concert or a basketball game.

And I don't get why you can understand that the World Cup is not "literally" a four year process. They could play all of those qualifiers in a matter of a month if they wanted to but they can't because of club duties. Another thing, they don't actually start qualifiers for over a year after the World Cup finals have been completed and in the case of Europe, it's a full two years because of the European championships which has a qualification round too.

Again, we can agree to disagree on this one, there's no other path to a title that's more physically and mentally grueling than the Stanley Cup.
