First of all, this guy is ridiculous. It's gotten to the point where I don't even want to watch the games because I know Lebron is going to dominate and win*. He's a complete player, defensively, offensively, coachingly, benchingly, reffing at times. Not only is he having another MVP season, which will be his 2nd of many MVP's, I think he gets 7 FWIW, his team currently has THE best record in the NBA, including a 2-0 season sweep on the Lakers.

Here are his stats from this year, compared to last year.

Last year:
PPG: 28.4
RPG: 7.6
APG: 7.2
FG %: 48.9
3-PT %: 34.4
FT %: 78.0

This year:
PPG: 29.9
RPG: 7.2
APG: 7.8
FG %: 50.6
3-PT %: 35.5
FT %: 77.5

Best player in the game..

Thoughts?

Yes, he is truly having his best season and overall one of his best months imo.

It has been great to watch him play so far this season and hopefully it carries on.

The way he has improved hes defensive game is awesome. He has a highlight block or two on a nightly basis.

I think it's because of the improvements he's made with his outside shot.

The past few years he was very good don't get me wrong but he thought he was much more dangerous faking the drive and shooting the three as he was just driving in and dominating. That wasn't true. That three point shot resulted in too many bricks. He's much more efficient now and you saw in that Laker game when guys like Artest and Odom did not know what to do. They just kept backing up and giving him that three and he was knocking it down.

The only part of his game that was lacking, if any, was that he was not a great pure shooter. MJ was, Kobe is. LeBron has similar skills as those guys and he's much bigger and stronger. Defense is as good or better. So if he's now becoming that pure shooter or close to it, I think he's the best all-around player ever. There isn't one guy that could do as much.

The bigger hole in his game right now is his complete lack of a post game. As big and as strong as LeBron is he should be killing people in the post

Kobe is far from a great pure shooter. He's a career 45% guy, and 34% from three.

Career PPG:

LeBron 27.7
Melo 24.6

Melo has only had two seasons (including this one) over 27.7, not sure how you can say he's a better pure scorer.

He also shoots less career from the field and the line. Melo is a better shooter, better post game, better from FT's better from midrange and better from 3. LBJ is better at putting the ball on the deck and getting to the hoop and the line.

actually hes worse from 3pt my bad. And i know youll say LBJ has a better FG%....but if there was a stat that was jump shot % im sure Melo would have the better %. Is there a place with such a stat?

If you try to disect evey little nuance of the game you'll find something another is better at, but when you add it all up you have LBJ behind noone.

How is he a better scorer? I mean I only really need one line of that, LeBron has scored 14,370 points in his career, Melo has scored 11, 898. What does the jumpshot have to do with anything? Scoring is scoring, period.

I love how people make up arbitrary distinctions not based on facts...

Melo is a better pure scorer... Kobe is a better pure shooter... Kobe is more Clutch.

LeBron scores more points than Melo and has a higher shooting% including 3's... LeBron has a higher 3% than Kobe... I forget where, but someone once had a website that disproves the myth of Kobe being so incredibly Clutch by looking at the fg % of shots that could have tied or won the game in the last minute or something to that effect.

Jump shot matters because you guys all try to make LBJ sound like an amazing shooter when really hes an average shooter at best. But one of the best in the wrld at getting to the hoop. His jumper is average but all those layups make his fg% look like hes a dead eye shooter.

And Melo also has played with another scorer for a few years, lol LBJ has always and will always be the man on his team and nobody is taking his shots. Melo played with AI and takes less shots per game then LBJ.

Kobe: 59% of his shots, 44% shooting, assisted 30% of the time, 10.9 PPG
Melo: 50% of his shots, 38% shooting, assisted 37% of the time, 6.9 PPG
LeBron: 40% of his shots, 38% shooting, assisted 21% of the time, 6.0 PPG

Remeber, that's last year--they don't have it updated for this year, either that or I can't find the updated one. So what that shows me is that LeBron has to create his 2 point jumper on his own more often than the other two and he clearly takes fewer. I'd imagine his numbers for this year would be much improved because that part of his game has gotten a lot better. But I certainly wouldn't look at that and call him an average 2PT jump shooter.

And just for shits and giggles I'll throw out the other stats from that page on these three:

Kobe:

19% of his total shots

Assisted 64%

Inside Shots:
21% of his total shots

Remember, this is based on last season. Nearly all of LeBron's numbers would be improved this year.

LeBron is sure as hell the better scorer. Clearly he creates his own shot more, he's assisted less than either of the other two. He has a higher PPG career average than Melo or Kobe. I mean, I don't think there is really an argument about who the best scorer is in the league.
