Now that most of the bowl games are over rank your top conferences.

1. SEC
tie. Big 10
tie. Big 12
4. Big East
5. Mountain West
6. PAC 10
7. ACC

The best teams were actually kind of spread out this year. I really dont know where to rank the mountain west because I could see their top teams beating some of the other conferences as well but also losing to some PAC 10 teams as well. What Does everyone else think.

I'd switch the Pac-10 and Big East, but otherwise this.

Agree, most conferences (example WAC, MW) had good teams at the top, not much beyond that. I think however that this season the MAC was clearly the weakest conference.

Yeah...I agree. People putting the Big 12 at #2 are stupid. They apparently forgot about all of the bottom feeders of their conference.

1. SEC - I will take two great teams and the rest "average" over what anyone else has to offer

2. Big Ten - Reasons they aren't number 1: over half of their teams failed to make it to .500; losses to Syracuse, Central Michigan, and Northern Illinois by the middle of the pack

3. Big XII - Texas is a great team and Nebraska had its moments (though its two biggest were still losses), but there was just little consistent depth; probably had more bad losses than any major conference (except the ACC), but Nebraska and Oklahoma's bowl wins did more to help the conference than any other conference's bowl performances (below them)
4. Pac 10 - No great teams, very competitive within - with a couple weeks left there was a reasonable chance that there could be a 6-way tie for the conference title; had some bad bowl losses BUT not bad enough to slip below the conferences below them
5. Big East - didn't have the bad non-conference losses during the regular season that other conferences did, but Cincinnati was the flagship and won the conference by two games before getting completely dismantled and the next two teams actually had the worst losses of anyone in the conference (WVU to Fla State and Pitt to NC State)
6. ACC - way too inconsistent to be better than any major conference; the I-AA losses still carry some weight, but they remain a big six conference because crappy teams like Wake Forest and NC State won games against top teams from other BCS/AQ conferences

7. MWC - Three good teams at the top who could probably compete with anyone on a given day, but the remaining six teams still demonstrate a huge gap in top-to-bottom depth from the BCS/AQ conferences (partially by being 1-7 against those types of teams); the bottom four teams would struggle to finish above last in any other conference

8. C-USA - A couple of teams can put together good days and compete/beat good teams from the top conferences, then turn around and struggle within this conference

9. WAC - Boise and NOTHING ELSE
10. MAC - Boise counters their couple of wins against the Big Ten; neither has much to offer as a conference

11. Sun Belt - The biggest travesty in all of college football is that there isn't a playoff with an auto-bid for Troy, who lost to Florida 56-6 and Arkansas 56-20 (as well as Bowling Green), but ran roughshod over the entire Sun Belt

To be fair, UC only won the conference because of an call that was overturned by the refs. One of the worst of the season.

8 of the 12 teams in the Big 12 played in bowl games. 7 of 11 big 10 teams played in bowl games.

Um, or because they were 7-0 and not 5-2.

I assume you are talking about the maybe-a-fumble on the 2nd quarter TD? You have no idea what would've happened even if that play had been called a fumble. Its a long game and the situation dictates a lot of things. Very rarely does a win/loss hinge on one single play and that game wasn't one of those times.

You would put the Big12 ahead of them? I personally thought the Big12 was not as good as the PAC10.

It is widely accepted WVU was completely screwed over on that call.

Even if you felt it was a touchdown (as I did), there was not even close to enough evidence to overturn the call

No, I don't know how the rest of the game turned out. I do know it was a 7 point swing in favor of UC that they didn't earn and it dramatically changed the game.

A loss can hinge on a single play when it gives the other team 7 points they didn't deserve.

The big12 did go 2-0 against the Pac10, so sure, why not?

Oklahoma (6-5, 5-3 B12) 31
Stanford (8-4, 6-3 P10) 27

Nebraska (9-4, 6-2 B12) 33
Arizona (8-4, 6-3 P10) 0
