Friday Leake was responsible for their only run when he left after 7

It was a 1 run lead and then they PR for him, then it later became a 3 run lead.

I know. Makes no sense to take him out. That made it even worse. If you're concern is getting him a WIN, you would've pinch hit for him to maximize odds to drive in the run from 3rd with 1 out. Price got lucky that Cueto with a .090 AVG getting a hit.

And he had to run through the stop sign at 3rd to get that run!

I was watching the game. The point the entire time was, if you want him the WIN and NOT CG, pinch hit for him. The way Price did it was the one way that made no sense. He got lucky that Cueto came through with a hit, despite being a terrible hitter.

Continually making the stupid move and your team bailing you out is why Dusty lasted as long as he did. Price has made a habit of doing the same thing this year, but with very little execution to bail him out.

Cueto > Hannahannnahannahan and if the Reds didn't score Cueto pitching the 9th > than anyone outside of Chapman

Negron ends the season on a 3 game hitting streak.

He said that.

Let him sit on 1st, Negron HR's anyway, Cueto likely wins the NL K crown and gets the CG. Even better. Once it was 4-1, you knew whoever finished the game was going to FINISH it. This is a lay up save for Chapman, but then again, seeing Chapman pitch once more wasn't needed.

How the hell do you assume Negron HR?

It was 2-1 with 1 out and Cueto on 1st....that is all Price knew.

You don't assume the HR. He however, DID assume that Cueto would drive in that run? Or that he wouldn't go out for the 9th and end up LOSING? He played for the Cueto WIN, and once you had the odds in that favor, why not go for the CG? You could always bring in Chapman if things got scary, even at 2-1...

I'm fine with all of that...you keep saying Cueto with a 3 run lead. Maybe if Cueto hit a HR to give them a 3 run lead you'd have that particular point.

Price said post game that Chapman would have pitched the 9th if they had the lead. The question was if Cueto would pitch the 9th if they didn't, and if he wanted to hit once they had a lead-off triple. He let the man, who the decision most affected, make it. Fate played a part as that one hopper looked to be right back at the pitcher but took a hard left hop to get past the pitcher and into CF.

I feel for the Pirates in that costly inning. Not only did they lose their shot at the NL central title, but their 2nd catcher went down, probably not getting to play in the play-offs, at a time when the #1 catcher is gimpy! I would think that would be the only negative in Cueto's day, the remembrance that he let his bat get way and catch Snyder on the hand/wrist.

Was he critical of the Reds? That's what got him canned from doing CBJ games. I'm still pissed that happened.

I don't think he is leaving. I think he was just saying how grateful he is for having the job he does.
