At first I thought it was a BS move until I watched the press conference and post game on ESPN. Apparently he and a number of coaches watch returns on the big screen as they get a better perspective. He jus thappend to be way too far out. I dont think any harm was meant as he was standing there the whole time. He bolted out of the way when he recognized it was coming that way.

With that said, he should have been penalized at least 15 yards. About once a year ya see a guy get a penalty on kicks because they are in that white box on the sideline. A jets coach got it a week or two ago. I also think a fine is warranted as well because he was right there on the line and may have disrupted the return. They should send a message to all the coaches. There is a reason why that white box is there.

If we remember right, the Pitt/Az super bowl may have been decided because of Cardinal players being in that area of the field on the 100 yard INT return by Harrison. The guy who I think ended up catching him ran into a teammate not in the game in that white area on that return. Without that he catches Harrison easily, no TD, and very well could have changed the outcome

Jones and Ravens handled it well I thought.

Too hard for 2 yards....he could barely see it with the defender, horrible angle

They know the NFL will be handling it. Is this your way of defending a scumbag cheating move?

I'm not playing your game. I didn't and am not attempting to defend anything.

But I do like how the Ravens handled it.

Lol. I don't think there is any doubt he that he knew exactly what was he doing. He's a Super Bowl winning coach, the dude is not an idiot. The biggest thing to me is when he "realized" he was right there he actually stepped out onto the field then looked like he was jumping away. I don't know about you, but whenever I jump away from something, I don't take a step towards what I'm jumping away from then jump away.

Exactly he knew damn well what he was doing. A suspension and fine will do.

I'd agree with this. I don't think it changed the play but he knew what he was doing. Sounds like the official that ran along there is in deep trouble for allowing it to happen and not throwing a flag.

I've heard 4 game suspension AND a $200,000 fine.

I was guessing 4 games and $500,000.....he's getting off cheap for sure.

Most times refs dont get in trouble for simply missing calls. They usually get into trouble/reprimanded when they misinterpret a rule. He very easily may have just missed it as he was sprinting down the sideline. The couple of times taht I have seen that called is when the official bumps into a said coach/player or has to move to get around him.

Sounds like a stiff fine is on the way, and it should be. I dont think it was intentional at all, but still should get fined big time.

Heard someone mention today that the league could take away a draft pick, which is bullshit.

i agree there should be some heavy fine/suspension, but draft picks are bullshit

How many times do you see a basketball player take a pass near the sideline, be in perfect control, then when they start to drive, the first move is a foot goes back and goes out of bounds and they get called for it and are incredulous as to what they did wrong. That being said I believe Tomlin was intentionally trying to disrupt the returner, and a loss of a 7th round pick would be appropriately punitive.

This is for you like_that. I know your ammo supply is strong but it's always good to have extra.

I know they are defending their coach but please just shut up. Just ignorant and simply no one is buying it.

I'd say this quote is pretty telling as well...
Former Steeler punter and co-host of Starkey, Miller and Mueller on 93-7 The Fan, Josh Miller, spoke to NewsRadio 1020 KDKA and said he thinks Tomlin knew what he was doing.
“Nothing he does isn’t thought out or planned, he knew what he was doing,” Miller said. “So yes, I think it was intentional.”

I don't know how there can be anyone who doesn't think he knew. Nothing was more telling than that grin after the play.

Another thing that ticks me off as a fan in general.....Cortez Allen was hauling ass and looked like he was going to be able to either possibly push him out or shoestring tackle....not only did he take away a potential great hustle play (everyone thought Jones was long gone)....and had Tomlin actually been watching the field he would've seen Allen in pursuit.

I think the smile was more about "wow, I almost got run over" and in disbelief than actually trying to disrupt the guy.

YOu can see him standing there when the return man was like 30+ yards away. Dont tell me he ran out to that spot 30 yards ahead of time. I believe that he was there watching on teh video board like he usually does, got caught in a bad spot and now will have to pay the big time concequences. People fuck up all the time and not try it. I think he will, and should get reprimanded pretty badly, but I dont think he set out to do it.

The sad thing is simply that Baltimore won the game. All this discussion about cheating and whatnot is over a play that, in the end, was in vain.

They did it wrong...

Just another "not a good week" for refs in the NFL as far as highly noticeable stuff. Completely missed this and totally botched the down during the Giants-Skins game. Thanksgiving weekend must have worn them down, as well.

Yeah...kinda like when an OL gets called for holding and still gives up the sack! At least benefit from the act!!!
