How is that relevent? The Patriots missed going 19-0 on the greatest catch in Super Bowl History.

Well, the Colts rest their players every year and always lose lol. The year they won the SB they had to play all 4 weeks of the post-season....thus, never resting their players.
You know, I really wonder why NO ONE whose vote counts in Indy seems to have figured this out. They shut down their stars nearly every year for the final week or so and wind up getting upset (with the obvious exception of their Super Bowl season).

I think there's something to be said about keeping guys in their rhythm. When you sit guys the final week (or more) of the regular season and they then have another week off due to getting a first-round bye, I think they can get out of that rhythm. While, meanwhile, a team that's biting and clawing for everything is staying in that rhythm and can catch a team asleep at the switch. Pittsburgh did that to Indy a few years ago on their way to winning the Super Bowl. They jumped all over them early in the game. While they had to hold them off (with a shoestring tackle by the QB) down the stretch, they were easily the superior team in about every aspect of the game in the early going.

With all the talent the Colts have had for the last decade or so, they should have more than one Super Bowl, but they've suffered a ton of playoff upsets.

Hillarious scene tonight at BW3's// Stopped there on the way home from the Bengals game, there were 2 Steeler's fans throwing a fit that Manning got benched. They kept going on and on about it cussing every chance they could and some guy walked by and said "Maybe you guys should have beaten the Raiders,Browns, or Chiefs" Steelers fan freaks out and gets kicked out.

For the Jets to possibly make it facing 2nd string guys in the final and crucial weeks would be a disappointment.

UP 15-10 in the 3rd qtr...14-0


Why, for any reason ever would you not try to win. Let Peyton get his start # and take him out if it's so important. Please tell me the significance of letting him play the 1st half....and not the 2nd. Peyton was pissed and should be....if they go on to win it all he'll still look back and be bitter....I guarantee it...as will the rest of the team. I still can't fathom a coach who is 14-0 in his career and have the lead and not try to win......unbelievable.

If this changes the playoff scenarios in the end I will root for the Jets to beat the Colts.

The 18-0 Patriot agrument is idiotic......how did playing hard in weeks #15-#17 that season have anything to do with Eli Manning becoming whodini and David freaking Tyree making a crazy catch off his helmet....had nothing to do with anything

Manning played the entire game against Jacksonville.

The Colts have everything locked up before that game so why not play him only 2 1/2 quarters then?

They played to win that game to get to 14-0 but did a complete 180 in this one. That makes no sense at all.

This is really disappointing to me. The Colts have already clinched a first round bye and they knew it coming into today. That's a guaranteed week of rest, which means there's really no need to sit your guys any more than that. By sitting for 2 or 3 weeks, they'll have no rhythm for the divisional playoffs. Yeah, you don't want guys to get hurt, but that could happen just as easily on the first play of the playoff game. They had the lead in game #15 with a perfect season on the line, and they took a dive. Peyton Manning and the rest of those guys wanted 19-0...you know they did. They should have been given that opportunity. I'm sure he and his teammates will say all the right things and focus on winning the Super Bowl, but this has to leave a sour taste in the mouths of the players.

(I had Manning and Addai on my fantasy team. I didn't expect Manning to rest this week-but figured he would next week)

Even as a Browns fan, I hate to see this.

Sure, you shouldn't have to worry about other teams, as you should take care of your business, but it doesn't always work out that way for various reasons...

With that said, Indy will lose in the playoffs because the Chargers are going all the way.

Picked them at the beginning of the year and I'm sticking to it.

Even if the Colts played all their starters for the rest of the game and won.Pittsburgh still would be counting on NE next week to beat the Texans.Pittsburgh didn't take care of business and if they miss out they miss out.

With that said GO Bengals and Patriots for a week!!

New England scored 14 points in that game after averaging 37 during the regular season and 26 in the playoffs (and 38 against that very Giants team).

The Giants had the NFL's 17th-ranked defense.

Perhaps if Brady had actually made some plays on offense instead of crying to the officials, anything Eli Manning could have done would have been irrelevant.

I agree with George and, based on his demeanor, so does Peyton Manning. Even if the Colts go on to win the Super Bowl, fans will remember that they had a chance make history, but chose not to. If the Colts had gone undefeated during the regular season and won the Super Bowl, they would be remebered as an undefeated champion.

This was a lose-lose decision for the Colts.

I disagree. I think it would be magnified. The sports pundits woukld have a field day. Indy would go down as the team that could have won a Super Bowl with an unblemished record and decided not to try.

14 points or not...it took a miracle act to defeat the Pats in that Super Bowl....Manning has been in the league about 6 years....he's never done anything remotely like that...David Tyree can't even stay in the league and makes one of the greatest/biggest catches of all-time....Rodney Harrison was a multiple time safety in the Pro Bowl....but didn't react to theeh ball and then went for the int instead of just knocking it away.

Kudos to the Giants defense that game....they made great adjustments and played with a bigger chip on the shoulder.

i dont see what the big deal is. would you rather see what Painter can do now in a real NFL game or later in the playoffs if Manning gets hurt? i think its stupid not to put in the second stringers in a game where the opponent is going 100%, not like a in preseason game. and who said they arent playing to win? you shoud be confident you can win no matter who you have on the field. i can imagine the crap the colts would get if Manning goes down in week 17 and they have to start Painter in 2 weeks.

If Painter has to play it just doesn't matter in the playoffs....they will lose. If that were so important he would've played all 4 qtrs vs Jacksonville.
