posted by like_thatI watched Black Panther this past weekend. I'd give it a 6.2/10. It was entertaining, but I felt it was definitely over hyped. It wasn't any better than any of the "best" comic book movies in the last 15 years imo. Unless the standards have dropped significantly, the social commentary around the movie definitely gave them a boost in their ratings. Black Panther is currently a 97% on RT and it didn't come anywhere else to feeling like a movie in the mid 80s%, let alone 97%.
Edit: They showed the preview for Avengers, and this has to be the end of it right? If you all have ever seen the "too many cooks" video by adult swim, that is exactly what the latest Avengers preview felt like.
I liked Black Panther. I thought it was a good comic book movie. Easily as good as Captain America, civil war. When I watch a comic book movie, I expect to set great special affects and shit blowing up. I don't expect comic book movies to solve world problems and I don't think Black Panther did that even though some people tried to make it out like they did. It definitely did not live up to the social hype.
Also, I can't fucking wait for Avengers. It may be over crowded but I'm hopeful they can deal with that. If not, oh well. Lol. I'm also really curious to see who they kill off and who they bring back and how far Thanos gets. They've been building that up for so long I can't wait to see if they can make it pay off.
