I just got a Hobie outback, seems like it is the hot new hobby down here. Kayaking and kayak fishing. The foot pedals are awesome. Can't wait to go fishing for redfish and trout.

I don't have one... I've gone white water kayaking before and would like to again at some point in the future.

Is that the one that in the back you can extend out the sides for better balance? I dont know how to explain it.
We saw one at the hunting and fishin expo in Dayton this winter..it was very cooool and would make fishing easy.

thavoice, do you mean this ? They can easily be put on any kayak. They do look functional, but I'm not worried about taking a swim anywhere.

My brother-in-law has one. He's a real d-bag, so I don't know anything about it.

I own two kayaks myself. A two person sit on top and a one person sit in. I do allot of kayak fishing, love it. I had two boats previously and got rid of both turning to kayaks. Saves a ton with no gas or maintenance as well as can go anywhere. Salt, fresh water, shallow, deep water, etc.....

Do you fish Matanzas ? I hear the bite is on right now there. I need an anchor kit and maybe a GPS/fishfinder made for kayaks and I'll be ready for the lagoons. I went to a lake in the Ocala forest yesterday for bass. The Hobie mirage drive pedals are great.

I know where are are talking about but haven't fished there. I usually fish north of Jacksonville out near A1A off the inlets and intercoastal of the St Johns. Will have to trek out there one weekend.

Ft. George area ? I don't know how fishing is but there is a Segway eco tour place that is pretty cool. You can cruise all over Ft. George Island on a Segway.
I'm already looking at kayak fishing in the Keys asap. I'll be fishing mostly from Matanzas to Indian River by the shuttle launch. And bass fishing in the lakes.
Shuttle goes up at 6:21 am Monday, or at least its scheduled to. My fishing pal wants to kayak in Mosquito lagoon for it.

I own a 13'8" Old Town Loon 138 and have fished out of it. But I also belong to an area canoe/kayak club where we travel Northeast Ohio & Western Pa. for outings . Usually 20 or more club trips a year and dozens of unoffical get togethers for informal paddles. Rivers are a favorite and the Cuyahoga, Grand, Mahoning, & BeaverCreek in Ohio are favorites while the Allegheny, French Creek, Oil Creek ,Tionesta & Clarion are Pa. trips.
