knight - We're not going to agree, but I respect your opinion. I am more swayed by my own recollection of the times (including going to shows and reading all the magazines and newsletters available), various research, and talking with folks who were either in or covered the business during those times. Take a look at results from cards in the late 80s, see where the IC champ (from Santana thru Steamboat, Savage, and Honky Tonk Man) was on the card and look at the attendance, sell outs, etc. The site www.thehistoryofwwe.com has a lot of results with some limited attendance numbers, but I never found one source that would end our disagreement. I don't have the time to invest in it any more either, so I'll just stand by my perspective and anyone who reads it can take it for what its worth (which isn't much even if I'm right anyway). It has been fun going back and forth regardless of if we change each others minds and you're one of the few people whose posts I look forward to when it comes to wrestling. I really miss those days as a kid and even early adulthood when I had a large group of friends from all over the country to talk wrestling with, as well as no responsibilities to dictate that my time be spent doing other things.

I miss the TV title. With all the shows that could be the best belt to have right now if they'd just bring it back.

Very well man. I do miss the days when that belt was producing great stars and great matches on top of it. With the amount of talent they have now, it could get back to that but not with the way they book the business now which is unfortunate.

Savage was just over a year from the time he was IC Champ to World Champ.

Vince really needs to bring back the TV title to help the lower card guys.

Yea the WWE has already tried this. Anyone remember the late 90s/early 00s when there were like 1000 belts? You had things like the cruiserweight championship, european championship, light heavyweight championship, hardcore championship, etc...
