Simon was a beast last season as a FR.

He'll only get better, will end up a great Buckeye.

False statement. You cannot possibly have "THE best OL group in the country" when Bryant Browning is part of that list.
He'll be fine, OSU has definitely had worse OL guys out there on the field.
Name 3. Bryant Browning is the worst lineman I can ever remember that has been a consistent starter at OSU. Being a former lineman and oline coach I watch the line play closely and Browning is awful. He rarely finishes blocks and has many plays a game where doesn't touch a soul. But when you play for one of the worst oline coaches in major college football I guess that is par for the course.
Easy. Ben Person (good for at least one false start and hold per game, minimum), Alex Boone (2006 NC game. need I say more) and Kyle Mitchum. The sad part is that they all played at the same time. Had Pittman and Beanie not been there to basically make their own holes, we would have rushed for about half the yards we did last year. Agree about the line coach though. Makes you miss the days when we had guys like Orlando Pace and LeCharles Bentley. You could tell they were well coached, and DOMINATED the game.

False. Boone (while not very good) was easily hands down better than Browning. And I really don't think it's even a question that Person and Mitchum were both better than what Browning is now.

Pace and Bentley would have dominated if your mother coached them.

19 years old and a JR?

Sabino has been my favorite in terms of pure athletic ability but it seems that he is catching on to the mental aspect of the LB spot also.

The guy is going to be a play maker on defense imo.

Good to see Sabino finally getting to play, he was such a highly touted recruit and we barely got to see him.

If and I say if the defensive line is not as dominant as last year, then I think you need a bigger guy in the middle to stop the run than Brian Rolle,(great speed, not a great tackler) maybe Homan or Sabino inside and the other and Rolle outside, just a thought.

There are good updates at elevenwarriors.com of the practices.

Noteable things of late is
- Miller and Adams rotate between 1st and second team every other day.
- Evan Blankenship may move to DT, previously a Gaurd
- No shot put throws from Pryor
- Torrence keeps getting beat
- O Johnson seems comfortable making play/formation calls at safety
- G Schwartz is going to make a push for 3rd WR speedy short kid that runs good routes...
- T Wash still has stones for hands
- Stoneburner is beast and is beating safeties and LBs every practice and has good hands.

Defense dominates the jersey Scrimmage, 78-24. Offense seems to be in mid-season form already: tons of sacks, drops by the wrs, 1 catch by the te's, and running game was good.

That breaks my heart to hear that about Washington. I'd love to see him have a productive senior year...but no way that happens if he doesn't learn how to catch a damn ball. The guy would help the offense immensely if he had the hands.

Too bad Stoneburner probably will be under utilized.

Good for Schwartz. He's a tough gritty kid who could tough out those undernearth routes. But at the same time, what's it say for the WR corps if he's challenging for the 3rd spot? Are young talented guys like Fields and Jackson struggling?

Definitely good to hear about Pryor. And I wouldn't worry about Torrence. He was solid last year so no reason he won't have another solid season.

Stoneburner won't be under utilized, he is more athletic than Ballard.

We haven't had a TE like Stoneburner in a long time imo.

Ballard was a good athlete and bigger, yet wasn't utilized. Why would that change now?

Put Washington at corner, our corners can never catch the ball.

Ballard was a decent athlete but way slower and not as athletic as Stoneburner.

Separation is a huge factor with TE's and Stoneburner has that ability to get space between himself and the defender.

Tres should just flex Stoneburner out and use him as the third WR.

I'm always excited about the kick-off of the new Buckeye Football Season and I expect that it will be another in a very long series of highly successful and entertaining contests. I'm also very confident that the coaching staff will have them ready to play and contend for yet another Big Ten Title in a League that can no longer be bad-mouthed as somehow less competitive than other leagues around the country. I also fully expect the Bucks to be in the hunt for a high level BCS Bowl Game and the National Title is always a possibility in Columbus. Go Bucks!

I read where OSU recruit Jamel Turner was shot. I don't know all the facts but the wounds are not life threatening.

I just read that about Turner as well. Kid sounds like trouble just follows him. Wonder if he'll ever make it Columbus?
