Usually during the college basketball season I can navigate my way around ESPN without having to see or hear Dickie V.

But come march madness I can't even bear to watch their coverage because the guy is everywhere.

During college football season yes there are personalities that are out there... Holtz, Corso, etc. But none are close to reaching the obnoxiousness of Dickie V. I literally flip channel instantly if I hear him.

He has become a ridiculous caricature of himself. He's just a few phrases and raspy yelling voice.

I HATE YOU ESPN FOR GIVING THIS CLOWN SO MUCH FACE TIME!

Do I hate how much Dickie V "slurps" Duke? Of course.

However, with that being said, Dickie V is one of the greatest sports commentators there are. Passion. Enthusiasm. Knowledge. Love. How can you not like the man? And besides, he is a MUCH better humanitarian than he is a commentator, and that is saying a lot considering how great of a commentator he is.

I completely disagree with him being a great commentator... I wouldn't even put him in the good category. I think his act is so over the top and repetitive that it makes it impossible to actually watch anything he is on. I am not joking that I either turn the channel or just turn off the TV any time he is on. I never watch a single game that he is working as well.

And what he does as a humanitarian is completely irrelevant here.

I saw Vitale doing a spot the other day when they asked him who he thought would win it all... I'll give you one guess as to who he picked. Anyway--- he commented nobody, nobody works as hard as those guys. Like he's seen anyone else play for any considerable time!

Dick Vitale loves ND Footabll, Duke Basketball and New York Yankee/Tampa Devil Rays baseball. He only likes Tampa because that is where he is living. His favorite teams in itself tells you all you need to know.

I personally don't mind Dicky V. Yes he is on Duke's jock but I think he is just excited and truely loves the game.

Notice Dick doesn't call Ohio State games. The University banned him after he called Lawrence Funderburk a "cheap shot mother fu$%er" while he was still on the air. This is a good thing.

I agree with the hate...I can't stand "Duke" Vitale myself. He's past his prime, and his loud and louder voice to signify that he's passionate about the game!!!!!!! are overwrought and not needed. Just because the guy yells loud, doesn't mean he's got passion. It just means he's...loud. He may be knowledgeable about Duke but that's about it. He's just an ESPN puppet. I can't hardly stand to watch ESPN at all anymore. It's just a celebration of ESPN.

I'm with you on this one. 30 years ago it might have had some amusement factor, but I am so sick of the constant screaming and yelling. He truly has become a caricature of himself.
