Well let's see...We have a Super Wall*Mart and a Wall*Mart Distribution Center, a Lowes but no Home Depot. Applebee's, but no Chili's. We do have Naples, but no Outback Steak House. matter a fact no NATIONAL steak house chain period.FairwoodKing wrote: What exciting things are happening in Steubenville these days? We have 3 large parks which 2 (Belleview and Jim Wood parks) got a $4.6 million upgrade. With Beatty park the location of a disc golf course. Fore!!!
Herald Square is closed. But, Steubenville News is still open. lol Spot Bar is open. But, The Imperial Hotel and the Venition is gone ...sorry to be the barer of bad news on that one
Judy Jordan's is closed as well as is David's Lounge. Sorry bout the bad news once again...But look on the bright side, Twines isn't. LMAO
As for the housing market...Pleasant Hts above the Laundry mat on Lawson is always for rent. Or Pennsylvania Ave or Wellesley ave on LaBelle have some for sale or rent.
But Reno Field @ DEATH VALLEY and the Mighty, Mighty BIG RED will always be a main stay in the Ville.

There will soon be a Home Depot in the old Wal-Mart building on Three Springs Drive in Weirton, also Olive Garden bought the GM dealership across from Eat n Park and will be building there. Red Lobster is also going to be building up there, but I am not exactly sure where.war_admiral wrote:Well let's see...We have a Super Wall*Mart and a Wall*Mart Distribution Center, a Lowes but no Home Depot. I love Red Lobster. There is only one in the Seattle area, and it's miles and miles from where I live.sonofsam wrote:There will soon be a Home Depot in the old Wal-Mart building on Three Springs Drive in Weirton, also Olive Garden bought the GM dealership across from Eat n Park and will be building there. I would think that if you live in Seattle, you could find a lot better place to eat seafood than Red Lobster. When I go to Boston to visit family, there are TONS of fresh seafood places that make Red Lobster look like McDonalds.FairwoodKing wrote:I love Red Lobster. Yes, there are other seafood places in Seattle, but most of them are VERY expensive. And some of them are not very good. At least Red Lobster is consistent.sonofsam wrote:I would think that if you live in Seattle, you could find a lot better place to eat seafood than Red Lobster. Fairwood, When's the last time you were in Steubenville? If it's been a while, you may be in for a shock.

I spent a week there in 2006 when I packed up my father and sold his house in preparation of moving him to Seattle. And then I spent some time there in 2003.Al Capone wrote: Fairwood, When's the last time you were in Steubenville? If it's been a while, you may be in for a shock.

I'm just saying some of the neighborhoods you thought were nice back in the day, just might not be so nice nowadays if you know what I mean. But I hope you move back and get to enjoy Big red football which seems to be your passion. Good Luck.

I found a house online that appeals to me. It's on Sunset Blvd. not far from Harding Stadium. The only downside I can see about that place is the noise and dirt from Sunset.Al Capone wrote: I'm just saying some of the neighborhoods you thought were nice back in the day, just might not be so nice nowadays if you know what I mean. Do you know any other reason why I shouldn't move there?

The address is 2427 Sunset. The house has been on sale for about six months. That makes me wonder what's wrong with it. It certainly looks nice in the pictures.sonofsam wrote:what block...FairwoodKing wrote:I found a house online that appeals to me. It's on Sunset Blvd. not far from Harding Stadium. My friend used to live in that house back in high school. I'm pretty sure it has been renovated since then. You wil have some traffic noise to get used to though.

Where I live now is so quiet that I feel like I'm living in a morgue. When I was in Steubenville, my parents and I lived on the corner of Oregon and Brady. Talk about noisy! The big coal trucks would drive by on Brady. There perpetually was a large pothole on Brady near our house. When the coal trucks would hit it, the whole house shook. I don't think this house on Sunset is that bad.ManO'War wrote: My friend used to live in that house back in high school. I'm pretty sure it has been renovated since then. I will also take a look tomorrow at work. I believe I know what house it is already. Is it for sale or for rent?

It has been up for sale for about six months. I talked to the realtor today. He said the only thing wrong with the house is the noise from Sunset Blvd. I lived on the corner of Oregon and Brady for many, many years, and the noise from Brady Avenue didn't bother me. Hopefully, the noise from Sunset won't bother me, either.sonofsam wrote: I will also take a look tomorrow at work. I believe I know what house it is already. Is it for sale or for rent?

The houses along that block seem nice from the outside. Again, only downside is probably being on the main drag which doesn't bother you.
Nice proximity to stores and within easy walking distance of Harding.

Fairwood, check your PM's. I went by that house that for sale and it looks like a new roof is in order immediately. Other than that, its a fixer-uper. I also sent you a listing for another house on Sunset a little further up the hill that looks pretty decent.

The ECOL principals will meet on May 3 to decide the fate of Steubenville High School, with respect to their joining the ECOL. However, the Athletic Directors have asked to join the meetings, for, I am told, they have considerable questions that need answering. When that is done, I am guessing that a vote would take place. The principals have the final say. Most, I'm sure, will take into consideration the feelings of the Athletic Director before they cast their vote.
From what I have heard, at this time there are only two schools that are against the admission of Steubenville into the ECOL. And those two are Marietta and Cambridge.

Marietta? Wow..I'm shocked. They are the new kids on the block...they should have no say. Hell, they haven't even started in the ECOL yet!
