Every now and then there's a big time program in a sport that has a coach who always has good teams, even in some years the best team (Kentucky this year), but the coach can never break through and win the title. The fans get kinda antsy and the organization doesn't want to settle for first place/1 seeds and they want to bring in someone who will win the title and fires the coach...usually leaving them in a worse position than before.
Just to throw out an example or two:
Marty Schottenheimer in San Diego with his 14-2 teams.
Frank Solich at Nebraska.
Does anyone see UK fans, and we all know how they are, getting upset with Cal, that if in 2 or 3 years they still don't have a title but they consistently have top teams, and actually want him out? And do you see UK actually firing him if this is the case?
