Did anyone check this movie out? I just did and I have to say it would have been pretty good if they would have cut out the daydream scenes. I understand why she daydreams but those parts just took the movie down a notch.

My girlfriend made me sit through it... The movie really pissed me off that a mother could let those things happen to her child then blame her for it.
Best line in the movie:
Mom did you get checked for AIDS? No, cause we never did it up the ass. LOL

My girlfriend is a clinical therapist who said that whomever wrote the story had expienenced the abuse in their lives. It was a very true and real account of how abused, and abusers, act and react.
Regarding the "daydream" scenes, it's called disassociation. It's exactly what abuse victims do during the time they are being abused. They literally leave their bodies and become someone else for the duration of the abuse. It's a coping mechanism.
I thought it was a very powerful movie but I can understand how some people wouldn't get it.

Yeah, I actually enjoyed it. I understand why she was daydreaming I just didn't care for those scenes.

Very good movie. Very touching. The story being narrated and the daydreams really gave so much depth to the story.

I was listening when Howard said the comments. Of course the media has to pretty much spin what he was saying. He is saying someone needs to try to help her. She is morbidly obese. That is not healthy and she'll probably die if it continues. He is also saying that there are limited roles for obese people in Hollywood.
I'm not sure I want to see this movie. We shall see.
