OSU's players are too intelligent to get in tough foul trouble in the tournament right now. They play very smart if they get into any sort of foul problems. OSU is playing very good defense, and they can do this going either man or zone.

If they get in trouble, they will go zone to hide that person in foul trouble while keeping up the defensive pressure. These guys understand the depth issue and play smart accordingly.

I heard the foul trouble argument for days in the GT thread, didn't happen and OSU won.

OSU is going to pose some problems for Tennessee on both ends, just too talented.

And there is a "bit" of a difference from playing AT HOME, then playing on a nuetral court. If UT had beaten those teams on the road, or somewhere else, it would hold much more weight. There is NO home court cooking now.
Again, those wins are obviously very good, and I have said Tenn is surely capable of beating OSU. But all things equal, the UNBIAS knows OSU is the better team. And this game isn't being played in on their home floor.
And as good of wins as those were, lets NOT forget Tenn has laid some MAJOR eggs as well with a few VERY POOR beatings at the hands of a couple not so good teams along with a 30pt spanking by UK.
Anyone thinking Tenn is the better team, just by the eye test, is kidding themselves. All things equal, Turner himself seperates the teams IMO.
I am actually a Bruce Pearl fan, have really enjoyed watching his teams play. It should be a very good game, no question.

Why so defensive? Don't want to agree with me for some reason? If Tennessee beats OSU it means they choked. If OSU wins they beat a 6 seed, which will be the highest seeded team they have beaten 3 games into the tourney. Then they get a 5 seed or 9 seed to go to the final 4. The easiest path in the history of the tournament.

Let me clue you in...OSU is in the top 3 nationally in the least amount of fouls committed. Matta has done a magnificant job of managing this team. Could foul trouble happen? Sure it could. OR, how about the other way as it was vs GT? Anything could happen. But at this point, I'll take the odds that OSU foul trouble is a VERY RARE issue. Do your DD pal.

I have to disagree. When a team is a #1 or a#2 seed the first game is a given. After that it depends how things fall. Injuries and upsets can make a path to the Final Four much easier. Would you rather play MSU with or without Kalin Lucas? Would you rather play Purdue with or without Robbie Hummel?

We all know that UNI defeated Kansas, but in a single elimination tournament I'd rather play UNI. While getting to a Final Four means a team has won four games in a row, the quality of the opponents determine how great of an achievement it is.

Couldn't disagree more. 300+ D1A teams..you make it to the final four, thats an achievement, period. It is just the tournament..its the entire body of work to get to this point. OSU EARNED the #2 seed..which put them in this position. Its not just the 4 games to get there.
And as I said..in a year, NO ONE will remember who played who on the way to the Final Four.

MSU last year? Who did they beat on way to final four? Nobody remembers that..all they remember is MSU to the final four held in Michigan. Heck, most people, a few years down the road...can't even remember who the champion beat in the title game let alone who they beat on their way to the final four! Maybe in your world the path makes something relevant....but I would completely say your in the minority.

As the board's resident Tennessee fan...

This game could go either way and any way in between. It's entirely possible for UT to shoot the lights out, hammer OSU on defense, and win by 30. It's also possible to collapse defensively, shoot poorly, and lose by 30. Here's why. Bruce Pearl is not a tactical coach, he's a concept coach. He recruits a lot of talent but isn't too picky about basic fundamentals. He comes from the John McNamara school of "roll the ball out there and see what happens".

If you remember the 2007 game, OSU shot poorly in the first half, UT was shooting the ball with 20 seconds left on the shot clock, and there was that huge lead. That entire lead was gone seven minutes into the second half; UT wasn't hitting shots (and they weren't rebounding either) and OSU suddently started rebounding and getting points on the board.

Tennessee has historically been a very difficult team to predict. In football, Fulmer was all about barely scraping by against mediocre teams. In basketball, the inherent inconsistency with Pearl is the current trend...before that, Buzz Peterson's teams could either beat #3 Syracuse on 20+ points by a guy named Genis Grindstaff, they could knock off a top-ranked Florida team, or they could get thumped by a bunch of nobodies. Before that was Jerry Green, and the only consistency there was that there would be a lot of whining and streetball.

It still boggles my mind how Diebler scores. Have someone simply chase him around and not let him stand in the corner and catch the ball? Take your chances with ET being a streaky shooter and play him man up and dnot help off.

Just a thought, instead of letting one of, if not the best spot up 3pt shooter in D1 basketball hit shots from the wing

First of all, no he wasn't..he was trying to take a jab at Kansas...which doesnt bother me, that's fine if you wanna make fun of a program at their lowest. I was just saying you don't have to go back that long before they were at their highest.

Second of all, if he was commenting on my ability to pick winners, it'd be pretty dumb considering i'm in the 95th percentile of America with my bracket and come on, how many people actually had N Iowa taking down KU?

2 things need addressing. Diebler does not just stand around. He works his tail off to get open. And an answer to the question about who remembers the teams who progress in the tourney but don't win? How about the players, parents , loyal true blue fans and the people on TV? And the new recruits. A good recruiting tool, don't ya think?
