I'd say Duncan on offense
but Duncan was a B+ defender coming into the league
Samhan is like C-/C

you can't go by this game
because he is not challenging on defense to avoid fouls
but it's obvious any quick, tall guys would have their way

Well then we 100%, completely disagree so I won't waste your time, my time or space on the thread to argue with you about this one--we'll have to wait and see.Mulva wrote:Duncan isn't a freak athlete, but he's MUCH more athletic then Samhan. And who are these great big men Nova has played in the Big East?SQ_Crazies wrote: LOL, that's why he's a poor mans Duncan. How athletic is Duncan? Not very. The kids game reminds me of him to a T. He just has to play better defense, even though I think Duncan's D is overrated--he's still a good defender. But offensively, it doesn't matter who you are playing against when you move like that in the paint. Nova has seen plenty of good big men in the Big East--why haven't they been dominated like this against all of those guys?
Greg Monroe? He average 24 ppg in 2 games against Nova this year, 8 ppg above his season average. He's a total finesse big man anyways, but they still couldn't stop him.
Samardo Samuels put up 21 on Villanova without missing a shot (4 of 4 shooting and 13 of 13 from the line). They couldn't stop him, so they fouled him.
Harangody? Give me a break. He's a 6'8 jump shooter.
The Big East is a heavily perimeter oriented league. There are hardly any true post threats.
And for the record, I'm a Samhan fan. There was an "Underrated players" topic on here a month or 2 ago, and I'm the one who brought up Samhan. His improvement from last year even is unreal. It didn't take until the NCAA tournament for me to notice him. But his game doesn't translate to the NBA at all in my opinion.

I dont know if many, if any watched the North Carolina-Miss State NIT game, but there was a pretty good one handed dunk from Miss State.

And we'll get to find out too--because he just put up 50 plus in 2 NCAA tournament games, so he's going to get drafted.

I think he's gone from undrafted to possible first round.
That's the cool thing about the tournament.
He's gotten better his entire career and could still develop a lot more.
An NBA team would have him get stronger and they could work with him to be at least a position defender, a guy who just goes straight up.

I lot of people said Dajuan Blair wouldn't be able to play in the League either. We all see how well he is doing with the Spurs.SQ_Crazies wrote: And we'll get to find out too--because he just put up 50 plus in 2 NCAA tournament games, so he's going to get drafted.
Sanham will be drafted and he'll get minutes

Outside of the 1st 5 picks in the NBA draft, it's based on pure potential. Players outside of those 5 (in a NORMAL draft, there have been classes that are obviously deeper) don't have near as high expectations.
Anderson Varejao didn't start playing until he was 17 or 18. This kid will definitely get his shot.

The big fella will definitely play in the league, but he is nowhere near Duncan's level. He has a nice post game, but Duncan can take you facing up or with his back to the basket. And bigs like JJ Hickson will blow right by this guy for dunks, but against less mobile big men he will do well enough. His touch around the rim is rare enough these days that he will be end up a middle first round pick at the latest.

Yeah my school is in the NIT and I don't even know when or who they play.
I'm glad to see Saint Mary's be able to keep up with Nova in the 2nd half because they've definitely increased the tempo--this is turning out to be a great game.
