Poor man's Tim Duncan is a huge stretch. Homeless man's Tim Duncan at best.

It's a lot easier when you're playing guys who are all 6'7 or smaller. He's got skills, but he doesn't have the athleticism to do it against guys who are the same size and strength as he is.

he has a natural feel for the game

footwork, touch, good recognition of where everyone is on the floor

his development will not be offense but defense

the tall, 6'10/6'11 athletic guys would go around him like nothing right now but for a late first or early second I could see it

LOL, that's why he's a poor mans Duncan. How athletic is Duncan? Not very. The kids game reminds me of him to a T. He just has to play better defense, even though I think Duncan's D is overrated--he's still a good defender. But offensively, it doesn't matter who you are playing against when you move like that in the paint. Nova has seen plenty of good big men in the Big East--why haven't they been dominated like this against all of those guys?

yeah and the pace has impacted Samhan

now when he catches he's slightly winded from running up and down

St. Mary's needs a couple of long possessions before going inside

I don't think so, they have been allowing them to be physical the entire time. Nova just wasn't trying to play that way early on. I figured they would in the 2nd half, now Saint Marys needs to work inside out and start hitting some threes again so they can open the paint up for Samhan to put Nova away late.

they're going to let Villanova's guards ride the guys until they push off

I disagree about the officials. IMO, the officials set the tone early on that they were going to let them play physical but neither team played that way in the 1st half other than in a few spurts. Now Nova has started to, Saint Mary's still isn't playing that way. When the officials are calling a game that way, the benefit goes to the aggressor and right now that's Nova.

Its because Villanova is the aggressive team on D. Officials always get into a "groove" so to speak. If one team plays aggressive defense they let it go a little bit more. When the other team doesnt, they dont foul as much so the refs will call the fouls on more touch stuff to keep it even.

28 points for Samhan

but you wonder about their guards now because they've been running ragged

it's going to be tough for them to shoot if they need to

Reynolds ball fake on the 3 is nasty, but he gets away with a lot of walks.

Duncan isn't a freak athlete, but he's MUCH more athletic then Samhan. And who are these great big men Nova has played in the Big East?

Greg Monroe? He average 24 ppg in 2 games against Nova this year, 8 ppg above his season average. He's a total finesse big man anyways, but they still couldn't stop him.

Samardo Samuels put up 21 on Villanova without missing a shot (4 of 4 shooting and 13 of 13 from the line). They couldn't stop him, so they fouled him.

Harangody? Give me a break. He's a 6'8 jump shooter.

The Big East is a heavily perimeter oriented league. There are hardly any true post threats.

And for the record, I'm a Samhan fan. There was an "Underrated players" topic on here a month or 2 ago, and I'm the one who brought up Samhan. His improvement from last year even is unreal. It didn't take until the NCAA tournament for me to notice him. But his game doesn't translate to the NBA at all in my opinion.
