Let me explain proper driving range etiquette, so that you don't annoy the fuck outta people who do know and follow proper driving range etiquette.

If you're taking a divot, you should move each ball to the back of your previous divot. Your next shot will then only take a slight amount of new grass because your new divot will be into the previous divot. This creates a straight line that gradually moves backward. Once you've created a line backward in the teeing area, move up next to the front of the line you created and start again.

If you're putting the ball in a clean patch each time and digging a beaver pelt, you're destroying the hitting area unnecessarily because you're taking out an entire divot size patch each time.
And you'll annoy the fuck outta me when I have to hit from your spot of 100 divots.

Phew...for a minute I thought you were going to say something about me having the OSU game or Pirate game on my transistor radio while hitting shots. It doesn't seem to bother anyone, the range is usually uncrowded and if you are 30 feet away you can't hear it. One time though, a guy there wanted me to give him play by play of the OSU game.

It's a little more than etiquette. It enables you to observe your angle through the ball with the club-head when working on shaping it on the range.

I agree zwick, and for those who don't understand what you're talking about then they can go to this type of driving ranges and swing to their hearts content!

Honestly, you pompous f*cking prick, if I ever see you at a driving range, I will do this on purpose. Then I will go to where you're hitting and do it there too. And then maybe drop a deuce.

Oh, and I can't forget... go play 18 holes in a golf cart :D

There's a proper etiquette, and when in Rome, you do as the Romans.

If that's a problem for you, stay the fuck outta Rome.

I'll also make sure to walk in your line before you putt, talk in your back swing, and not replace my divot in the fairway.

And also, many people don't know the proper etiquette at a driving range, b/c many people just see it as a damn driving range, not a course. If you are at a high dollar driving range, that's one thing, but a po-dunk driving range... come on. You expect there to be etiquette?

Dude, wtf is your problem? Hes not being pompous. Have you ever been to a nice range where you hit off "REAL" grass?? Or do you go to the ones with astroturf over concrete and think that is improving your game? There is a difference in ranges just like courses. Yeah there are your courses where a case of beer is acceptable for an 18 hole round but there also ones where shorts arent acceptable. Same with ranges you assfuck. You dont get real grass at a Po-Dunk driving range.

That wouldn't happen b/c you'd never be in my group. We all walk.

I realize many people don't know proper etiquette.. that's why this thread was started.

I guess my argument is this. Most people on this site don't attend the higher up golf courses. It's like if I were a member to a $10,000 per year health club, where there is proper $10,000 per year etiquette, and I complain about it to the $100 a year health club members. :)
