Because its fans yell "airball" when someone misses the rim on a shot. Basketball fams are similar to children pointing their finger and laughing at you.

Basketball is dumb because the alternate possession rule makes no sense. If they must avoid a jump ball they should reward the last defensive teams with all tie ups.

Besides that ...they are wrestling in Omaha right now and I can watch it on CBS College Sports All Access. ;)

It must have been tough on you every time you took a shot.

Not sure what the comparison is....?

.....but, I can think of one particular coach who likes to get splits the first half mile of a 5k race. I've seen him screaming at his runners they too fast or too slow starting off. That helps.

It's those who yell at runners the entire race that need their head examined.

Never uttered the words air ball at a basketball game.

If track ever drew the amounts of fans you see at a basketball game maybe you would see some of this type of stuff at a track meet.

Having been a track and cross country person for a few years now, I realize now that the first twenty years I was yelling at my kids it was for their benefit, or so I thought. The last 20+ years I've been yelling at them, I began to realize that it was really for my benefit. I know I can't yell at my wife when she does the exact opposite of what I ask, so when the kids do the exact opposite of what I request, I can release a lot of tension by yelling at them. Seriously, I yell very little in either case, but when I do yell, it seems to work much better when it's in the form of trying to correct some of my runners' technical faults. My wife has no faults so how would yelling correct the uncorrectable? (Just kidding, dear.)

Since wrestling is in the Bible and these other sports aren't...Good enough for God, good enough for me.

The only people who use the "roll around on the floor with men" comment are the ones who are A) not secure enough with themselves and B) couldnt succeed in a sport like wrestling where hard work, dedication, and mental toughness are paramount. Go play with your balls.

What you wont see in wrestling is chest thumping idiots who celebrate each score like they won a world championship. More often than not you will see a wrestler win a major title and act like they have done it a million times and celebrate in a modest way...or be so tired from laying it all on the line that they cant even lift their arms to celebrate. That is what I love about the sport.

How many athletes in these other games would have the mental toughness to do what J Jaggers did his junior year to finish out the win for the National Title? Kid couldnt even stand up and finished the match for the win.

I havent watched basketball since Michael Jordan retired because I dont believe there has been a player since him who was worthy of being called a competitor. The NBA is full of whining babies like Allen Iverson who dont even respect their sport enough to take it seriously.

I'm a huge basketball fan, but I agree with every word in your post. Well said.

lol AI in his prime was one of the biggest competitors in the NBA. 6 foot and played through countless injuries. I agree later in his career he acted like a bitch though.

And wrestlers if they had crowds or were on TV i think would celebrate more, why celebrate when nobody is watching? :/

I can barely watch college anymore.

sooo many game stoppages. Ya get the TV timeouts so teams save TO's for the end of the game and it grinds to a halt.
I liked how Bobby K would manage games. More times than not he let his team play late in a game. He always commented that he believed he taught his players well enough to execute when the game is on the line so why call a TO to let the other team reset what they wanna do. He felt he has his teams more prepared so let em play.

Seems like college coaches seem to micro manage the game of basketball too much these days and not let them play the game.

paper said that one of the BigEast conf tourny games took 23 minutes to play the last 3:10 of the game and there were 8-9 timeouts in that period.

AI was never a competitor, he was always a selfish, me first player (just like 90% of the players in the NBA). I read an article about how the Knicks have enough cap space to sign LeBron, Wade, and Bosh but all would have to take a big pay cut to $11 million each (**GASP*** Paycut?) to create a super team that could win tons of titles but that it wasnt likely to happen because none of these guys would be willing to give up that much money.

That mentality is a joke.

Even if real wrestling was on TV as much as other sports you still wouldnt see guys chest pounding and acting that way and you would see guys willing to take paycuts to get on teams with the best teammates possible to win. That is the mentality of a wrestler. It has always amazed me that in a sport that is considered an "individual" sport, wrestlers are the least selfish and most team oriented athletes you will find.

If you don't think AI was ever a competitor, then I'm not sure if you're familiar enough with the game.

And to lump 90% of NBA players into that, again....not sure that you're familiar enough with the game.

Which obviously doesn't matter, if you're not a fan, that would make sense.

Im curious as to how much of AIs career you actually watched then and how much you have only heard about.

And you are right...Im not a fan of the game anymore. I loved it when it was competition. Now it is just about me and mine. I always thought it was funny when the Spurs were winning titles a few years back and people said they were boring and cheered against them.

So no nonsense teams who play unselfish ball and actually do the dirty work like play defense and get offensive rebounds are boring huh?

That is why basketball is dumb.

Well, the Celtics won with that kind of mentality, not too long ago.

And they had more stars to split the ball up with.

A.I. in Philly was a pure competitor. He loved playing for his city, and dragged his team to the NBA finals with virtually no help around him. After leaving Philly, his career was easily spotty, but yes, early in his career, he was a fantastic competitor, a fearless player, and a guy who definitely gave his all on the court.
