terrell pryor had a year to work on his mechanics and footwork and they still suck
They suck in a game, where he was facing a defense. I bet they were flawless in practice sessions when he's not in any danger of being hit.

Oh c'mon, we both know that Pyror isn't the reason they won, he actually almost single handedly lost them the big ten championship with his poor play. He manage to turn it around from poor to mediocre towards the end of the year.

Way to much is put into 40 times. Anybody remember a guy named Anquan Boldin? He ran a terrible 40 time at the combine and I would say he is doing pretty well now.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The theatrics and circus atmosphere were long over, and the player who changed the face of college football finally was back in his element.
A man and his mission.
"Football is just a way to bring me closer to what's important for me," Tim Tebow said.
So there was Tebow, minutes after putting on a show for NFL teams during Wednesday's pro day workout at Florida, throwing a football with wheelchair-bound Alex Ross, a 17-year-old from nearby Jacksonville who was shot in the head in January and lost the use of the left side of his body.
Ross threw a football to Tebow, who caught the ball and summed up the day's events: "Let's see (them) come over here and critique that."
Yes, everyone, Timmy Terrific is taking this NFL thing serious. A little advice for the doubters: Don't bet against him.

40's from The Swamp. You can see it was kind of wet. Hernandez is a beast. Nelson may look slow, but he is 6'5" and ran 4.45. Haden has 4 years experience, he will be ready to start week 1 in the NFL.

i remember reading marty schottenhiemer talking about when the browns went to east carolina to work out byner. they happen to see film on him when they looking at film of of offensive lineman terry long. the browns personal people couldnt believe how slow he ran the 40 when they worked him out, beacuse on film they never seen him ran down from behind. they came to the conclusion he had what marty called "competitive speed" he just didnt run a forty well when being timed. but put the ball in his hand and have defenders chasing him he could really go.

That doesn't surprise me. 40's are good just because to measure guys you want to have some sort of sprint, but there is way too much put into them--and personally, the fact that they aren't done it pads at the very least is stupid IMO. But still. The average player's speed is up from Byners day.

do you realize that some of the fastest players ever to play played in byners day. players such as Willie Gault , Renaldo ("Skeets") Nehemiah ,Curtis Dickey,Ron Brown, Bo Jackson. do you think there is five players in the game today as fast as these guy? 4 out 5 of these guys were world class sprinters

Do you realize what the word average means?

Let me spell it out for you, dumbass.

There were guys that played back in the 80s that were every bit as fast as guys playing today. But now, there are MORE guys running that fast--so the average 40 time is up. Hence the average player being faster. It doesn't mean that no one from the 80s could keep up with guys today.

God, I swear I've had to explain things like this so many times--the reading comprehension around here is fucking terrible. I think it's just that any time you say anything is better now than it used to be, some old man gets a huge internet boner to prove you wrong and interprets the post however he see's fit to put a young man in his place.

It's just like when you say something like "put LeBron back in the 1960s and he would dominate the way no one ever has come close to" and they have to rebuttal with "haven't you ever heard of Bill Russell?! You're kidding if you think LeBron would dominate that easy!"

HAHAHA, are they serious?!

let me spell this out for you dumb ass, when you try to explain something that aint true thats why people dont understand it. for example the players i named where just few i could have went on with that list . but those were just few that came to mind . and i know for fact you cant even name 2 players in game today as fast those guys i mentioned. and no the average isnt faster these days. it actually might be slower , but i would say it basically same. and being that you are so fucking smart and you know so much about the game of football. tell me why they measure 40 yds and where did originate. come on .

Your reading comprehension must be lacking as well. SQ, said that there were athletes back in that day who could keep up with today's athletes and in some cases be better, but you guys just want to read what you want.

Bo Jackson was a freak of nature, but that's not say someone else won't come out in the future to be as good, or better than Jackson.

Today's players on average are faster than the players of the 80's. And that's not a slight on anyone from that day and place. Some of those guys back then could fly, but as a whole they were slowler than the players we have now.
