That's what happens when you leave yourself no wiggle room when being critical. It's no big deal, just say you've always been critical of him and move forward.

I have been critical, but I haven't on this thread. The discussion was starters for next year, and I don't think it's ridiculous to say that Thomas and Sullinger both start. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. But that doesn't make it bashing.

I am not sure what the starting line-up will be, but Ligthy, Diebler, Buford & Sullinger will be the 4 that play the most together. With Matta favoring a 4 out & 1 in offense, I would think Thomas will see the bulk of the minutes when Sully is on the floor, with Dallas being Sully's replacement. I would be surprised to see Sullinger and Lauderdale on the floor all that often together. I know Oden and Hunter played together, but Dallas is not GO. And even that year, Ivan Harris played minutes at the 4 with Oden to play a more 4 out 1 in line-up.

And to say Diebler is going to be demoted to the bench just because Turner is gone seems a little foolish. Sully is a load in the post, and will demand a double on most nights. I expect Ligthy to dedicate most of his offseason working on ballhandling/point guard skills. I don't think we can expect an ET like performance from him at the point, but with 3-4 ball handlers on the floor at all times, not having a true point shouldn't hurt this team too much, and with Sully in the post, and Lighty and Buford's ability to penetrate Diebler should be fine.

^^ Of course Lauderdale isn't Greg Oden. If were comparing Sullinger and Lauderdale to Oden and Hunter, I think it'd make more sense to compare Lauderdale to Hunter than to Greg Oden.

I definitely do not see Sullinger and Lauderdale playing together. Not many teams play with two true back to the basket players anymore. Sullinger is a threat on the offensive end, and with Lauderdale in the game, it just makes the lane more congested and harder to operate.

If Lauderdale were a proven passer I think you would see alot of him and Sullinger together, because Sullinger can score from anywere on the court. Unfortuanately that isn't the case.

Lauderdale is a proven defender however, he will get minutes, and a lot of them.

You can't compare Sullinger to Mullens and then say he's not Mullens. I don't know what the point is you are trying to make.

Sullinger isn't Mullens. Mullens was ALL potential. Sullinger is ready now, and is already much better than Lauderdale as a senior in HS. Hell, Matta seems more comfortable with Madsen at this point than Lauderdale, so that should tell you everything you need to know.

And yes, I do expect 15/10. There is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't accomplish that. Again, Sullinger's ranking are not based off of potential. He's college ready now. He might be the best big man in the Big 10 next year.

And why you don't like Deibler, is exactly why you expect 15/10. Putting expectations on an 18yr old who has yet to step foot on a college floor.
And I know what Mullens was about..but MANY on here and other fans had expectations because of his recruting ranking.
And what about my Cook comment? Maybe the single most talented player Matta has had to date. HE didn't hesitate to bench him, and play seniors with experience. So don't go counting on things.
Sullinger is a horse, no question. But his own dad benched him, and it cost his team a game in the tourney.
BTW, if you had seen Lauderdale in HS...you would have thought differently. He was a dunking/dominating machine with this freak athleticism. Not near as polished...but you can imagine at his size, arm length and jumping ability what he did to most HS. Saw him play a game, had 11 dunks. It was sick.
Anyway, as usual...we can agree to disagree. And I will say, anything could happen...but Matta is known with going with experience over youth and I would be surprised(not disappointed) if he sits a 2yr starter with the experience he has coming back.
As we have seen this year (as I stated going into this year), that experience is invaluable.

Again with Diebler, I haven't bashed him once in this thread. Get over it.

I didn't have those expectations of Mullens. I saw Lauderdale in HS and knew he'd struggle with the college game because he was so raw. I don't see that with Sullinger. A 15/10 season is what Matta would likely say he expects. He's that good.

His dad benched him because he didn't do his homework, why is that even brought up? You get off on so many tangents on some of your arguments I don't even know the point you are trying to make.

What about Matta moving Jamar Butler off the ball so that Conley could run the point? How quickly you forget. Matta has proven that he will play the best available. We will see who that happens to be.

You will see Craft running the point by the time Big Ten play opens

Dynasty, quit playing dumb. Everyone knows you have something against Diebler and you like to bring it up everytime he has a bad outing.
