Haha arm strength is actually not one of the many complaints about Delhomme. He has pretty good arm strength and can throw the ball downfield, that's why many compare him to derek anderson. Delhomme's problem is age, throws lots of picks, has shaky confidence..and the list goes on. But your way wrong by saying he has a weak arm...Gblock wrote: ha ha im not sayin....im just sayin......ill keep it on topic delhomme sucks, he has the weakest arm in football

last year he was coming back off tommy john surgery and his balls were wobbly and short most of the time.....that is why he threw so many picks.pkebker wrote:Haha arm strength is actually not one of the many complaints about Delhomme. Exactly and they say it takes 2 years to come back effectively from that surgery. I expect it to be significantly better this year.Gblock wrote:last year he was coming back off tommy john surgery and his balls were wobbly and short most of the time.....that is why he threw so many picks.pkebker wrote:Haha arm strength is actually not one of the many complaints about Delhomme. I am by no means confident in Delhomme but I do think he will be an upgrade over Quinn or DA. Look at it this way, we won our last 4 games with NO passing attack whatsoever. Gotta believe Delhomme will be able to improve on that if just by a bit.
They still need their QB of the future.

i have a lot of respect for delhomme, i think i remember a stat where he was only about five wins or so behind mcnabb for number of wins over the past 5/6 seasons. but i think hes done at this point. i do agree he is better than quinn, but i would rather have derek anderson over delhomme

I am a life long and very dedicated Steelers fan, but I don't usually talk about it because it turns into this type of bullshit. People name calling, trying to insult or out-insult someone else, jumping threads all that kind of shit. I prefer to talk about football as adults.GoChiefs wrote:Non's a good dude..along with ewok & heretic..hell..rock is too until you disagree with him about something.Pick6 wrote: Non is probably the only Steelers fan you can have a half way intelligent conversation with on this board.
I cheer for and support my team, and respect anyone who does the same for their team regardless of what team that is.
As far a the Delhomme signing goes, it is a dice roll at best, but I am sure it was a calculated move on Holgrams part. He isn't the same ringleader who has been running the circus in Cleveland for the past eleven years. I am sure it is all part of a bigger plan.
Brady could be successful in Denver, he certainly has a nice group of recievers, and a balanced running game. Playing back up to Kyle Orton probably won't last long, so he should get some starts this season. I hope he flourishes out there. I always liked him at ND.

I don't care who you root for if you're able to give an objective opinion without trying to encite a riot every time you post.
I'll at least read your posts 4rings, you appear to have a few years experience on some of your fellow Stiller counterparts and it shows. Good post.

All "intelligent" banter is welcome regardless of fanbase.
I guess the Browns had a "self imposed" timeline on when to get rid of DA & Quinn. They apparently start their offseason program today and didn't want them a part of it.

That makes the fact that we got something in return for them even more appealing/good w/e. I'm wondering if they would have been cut had there been no takers? which is a stretch I guess as they do have some value. Just glad we got a few picks in return.

I'd put money on a QB being drafting in the late 2nd or early 3rd. There has to be someone Holmgren and Mangini really like around there and they are setting the pieces up there. That QB will be a 2 year project QB. I'd really like to see McCoy come to Cleveland.

That's really the question now.
Which QB are they identifying as the one to pick?
I'm looking at this draft and not seeing a great QB.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they target Bradford, they have the pieces to make the move and not actually hurt themselves draftwise too badly. I would probably not be thrilled taking a QB in the first, I don't think any are really rd. 1 worthy, but I would not be surprised.

I think that's the move to make.
With all those picks and needing a QB, might as well try to get Bradford if you think he's way above the others.
Doesn't McCoy seem like he might get crunched? I know Bradford got hurt, too. But I can see teams like the Ravens and Steelers doing a number on McCoy.

This wouldn't surprise me either. Possibly an Eli Manning/Philip Rivers flip flop in which the Rams take Bradford and we take Clausen (if he's there) and then trade Clausen & picks for Bradford.ytownfootball wrote: I actually wouldn't be surprised if they target Bradford, they have the pieces to make the move and not actually hurt themselves draftwise too badly. If Bradford is healthy I think he's the real deal.

Well, to be honest, on certain Steeler-oriented threads (particularly the multi-page Roethlisberger one), there are a number of fans of other teams, including the Browns, spouting off with their rape jokes and whatnot. Which is the sort of thing that leads to certain people feeling compelled (due to how FreeOhioHuddleChatterIsSeriousBusiness) to hijack other teams' threads, as well.Writerbuckeye wrote: Here's the dealer stooler fans: you keep coming onto BROWNS threads and spouting off, don't expect sympathy or rational behavior. The shame of it all is that I think most of the people here are at the very least, capable of generally posting some sort of intelligent conversation on their teams from time to time. But you have a few idiots, a few trolls and a few overly thin-skinned people that basically turn everything into a moronic pissing match where they dominate things to the degree that the more intelligent, respected posters wind up lowering themselves to the "you're stupid; no, you're stupid; no, you're stupid" bullshit.

I don't think they are going to use their #7 pick on a QB. It's possible they do what they did last year and keep trading down but I think they would only do that if Haden and Berry are not available. If Berry falls to #7 there is no doubt he will be in Cleveland.Non wrote: That's really the question now.

After Bradford and Jimmy Boy, there is a drop off at QB. I still like McCoy. He has played in a lot of big games at Texas. I'm not sold on Pike. Big East isn't exactly the football meccah. I think LeFevour would be a HELL of a stretch to draft. He has numbers but he played in the MAC and was a MAJOR system QB. I think the idea of Tebow is being flirted with but I don't see that happening. I'm not sold on Snead either. You have to think Big Mike has someone in mind for late 2nd/early 3rd to pick at QB.
I think he has made the right moves in Delhomme and Wallace. Does it help us now? Not really. It is a perfect fit though to win in the next couple years though. You have a decent starter (Delhomme will be better than what we had) and a slightly above average backup in Wallace. This gives Rookie QB #3 time to sit back and develop for two years. Cleveland isn't going to pay top 10 pay for this guy either so that makes me thinks that the #7 pick will definitely not be a QB.
I believe Cleveland has a list of 3 players that they want at the #7 spot that if they are available, they will stay at #7, if they aren't available they will trade down.

Could be but if we go WCO, Holmgren is not a fan of the shotgun and Tebow still hasn't proven he can take a snap from under center.THE4RINGZ wrote: They were throwing the name Tebow around on The Really Big Show today.

Are the Browns running a West Coast offense?
Bradford and McCoy both would be decent if they ran a similar offense to Seattle with the short passing. Similar to Hasselbeck in accuracy but both are more athletic. Not real physical so they need good pass protection. You don't want them taking a lot of hits.
Tebow is the blue-collar, tough guy but needs a lot of work with reading coverages and delivering the ball on time at the next level. They would have time to try and develop him.

I honestly wouldn't be upset if they took a gamble in early 3rd round for Tebow. I think with his work ethic, he'd be worth the shot.

For what it's worth, Pittsburgh is bad at defending the short passing if that means anything.
Historically they've been good at stopping the run and not giving up too many deep passes but can be had with the dink and dunk passing.
Baltimore is smothering within the 15 yards of the line of scrimmage but suspect in the deeper secondary.
Not that you necessarily draft with this thinking, but the Browns should establish more of a consistent philosophy rather than changing all the time.

It's believed that the Browns will morph to a WCO. Holmgren brought in Gil Haskell (Sr Advisor to the Pres & Holmgren's former O-Coord) and our current O-Coordinator Brian Daboll is attached at the hip to Haskell. So it's likely that Haskell is teaching Daboll the system.
