Frankly, I think Dennis Dixon would be a better QB for the Browns than what they have.
He's 25, athletic, good poise and is on the upward.
I don't think they're a team that's close with a lot of other pieces in place where they're just a veteran QB away.
They need one quarterback to play for like the next four years and gradually do it. 9-7, 10-6, 12-4 rather than play a guy like Delhomme where maybe he has a solid year and builds the expectations but then is over the hill and they come crashing again, 8-8 with Delhomme, 5-11 (another QB),...and so on. They've tried that.
The powers in the AFC have that one guy.

I don't mind it, but I hope he never sees the field.

Dennis Dixon= Troy Smith who is available.
They are not going to fix this mess in one year, so they got a stop gap....it is as simple as that. The draft is the key. They cannot miss on there early picks like they have since 99. If they have a solid draft and acquire a free agent qb next offseason or next draft, I will be happy.

Last years draft set the franchise back big time. 4 picks in the top 53, and they reached on every one. Mack will be solid, but the 3 second round picks are hardly looking like world beaters. Momass showed some signs, but Robiskie was a disaster to not even be able to get on the field as a high second rounder for the worst team in the NFL. Not good at all. They cannot miss on there early picks like they have since 99.

How many good seasons have Quinn and Andersen had? A half season.miller45452003 wrote:Come on now. You can't be serious here. Delhomme had 1 respectable year out of 12 (03 or 04). He's been shit since.pkebker wrote: Delhomme is not a great player by any means, but he is an improvement over Quinn and Andersen, and that makes me ok with this move. As long as we continue to improve the roster, that's all i'm going to ask for.
And I disagree with Delhomme only having one good year.

The idea that if someone doesn't play 15 minutes after arriving in town that they're a bust is as silly today as ever. Robo will be a solid player in the league for several years.IggyPride00 wrote:Last years draft set the franchise back big time. 4 picks in the top 53, and they reached on every one. Until the draft is finished and the roster in place, I'm going to withhold judgment.
You folks are all ASS-uming way too much from this signing.

Dixon may get his chance if Big Ben ends up in the Milledgeville, GA County Jail awaiting trial.Hb31187 wrote: I do think Dennis Dixon if given a chance could really produce

Delhommeboy to be in town Monday to start the offseason program as per MK Cabot......There's a good start. This guy is going to work his butt off to be better than he was last year.

Except now the offense that he'll have to play in is even worse than what he had in Carolina. LMAO, terrible signing no matter how anyone tries to spin it.

It's not that terrible of a signing, especially if we shop quinn and draft a qb that can learn from him. Quit being so pessimistic! lolSQ_Crazies wrote: Except now the offense that he'll have to play in is even worse than what he had in Carolina. Um, if they made this move to draft a QB in round 1 then this move is even worse than I originally thought.

If you think drafting a QB in round 1 is their best option, you're the stereotypical dumbass Browns fan.

$7M--is Delhomme backdoorin' some cash to Holmgren?? He is worth at the most, vet minimum. Wow this signing just got worse. And I know before you jump on me Devil1197, it's not "my" money....so what does it matter?osu99 wrote: Schefter reporting Delhomme making $7M this season via Twitter.

They spend $7M on a over the hill non producing stop gap QB, but they wouldn't offer Thomas Jones a $3M contract after him coming off a career year? Make much sense? Not to me.

It is pretty obvious that Delhomme is NOT the future, so he is either a stop gap if the young guys fail or he's a backup and mentor. Drafting a QB gives you three, young inexperienced QB's....I don't think that's gonna happen.
