Waynedale - Smithville has always been a good game. The last couple years haven't been too close but that goes in cycles. I find each league game exciting. Over the last five years NW and Waynedale have had super games with playoff berths at stake each time. These two programs have been the most succesful in the league during that five year period.

Guess Norwayne isn't so over rated maybe. Smithville is making do with what they have pretty nicely. The have some quick running backs that need to be watched. Dalton turned over the ball themselves a couple times, but it wasn't a runaway game.

Well, they said it would happen this year for the Indians. They win over da Bears.

Rittman gets a big WCAL win tonight 49-30 against Waynedale. Bear defense was non-existent. Would hold the Indians to third and long and then Bauman would just run right through everyone for the first. Bears had a ton of chances again and just couldn't get it done. Less than two minutes in the half the Bears are first and goal from the 7 and ready to take the lead. Instead of killing some clock we call a pass play on first down which is picked and returned almost all the way. Rittman scores and it is a 14 point swing. Worse case is you run three plays and kick a field goal to take a halftime lead as time runs out. Knowing Rittman was getting the ball to start the second half, that would be a no-brainer. We are in love with the goal line slant play and it has been picked everytime we try it. (anyone remember @ Danville 2006, Hillsdale 2007 and Dalton last year?) You have eleven defenders in a small area. The only pass you call is a route into the corner where only your receiver can reach it.
Take nothing away from Rittman. They have senior leadership and a lot of talent. These guys have paid their dues and I actually would love to see them win out. If they stay healthy they have the weapons to do it.

Sounds like a big Norwayne win tonight. Any details?

Wow. Big win for the Indians. Could be a new Co contender in the WCAL this year.

Northwestern just looked flat. They were missing their middle linebacker Near. I dont know if Norwayne looked that good or Northwestern looked that bad. If the huskies look like this the rest of the year i dont see them winning but 1 more game

Northwestern was lucky to only get beat 37-10 tonight. Norwayne shot themselves in the foot multiple times, the Bobcats could have scored 50. Casey Neer RB/LB didn't play and rumored to have knee issues. The Huskies pretty much have no offense and the "D" looked very poor tonight. I think NWNs leading tackler was a freshman safety.

Unless things change drastically, the Huskies are destined for the cellar of the WCAL.

When your saftey is your leading tackler you have issues on defense.

Yeah... I hate to say it, but the Huskies won't sniff the playoffs, aren't a WCAL contender and should probably get down to the business of seasoning up the freshmen & sophomores for a future run. The loss of Neer was devastating to the defense and when McKean plays QB the Huskies lose him as their only break away threat at WR. If there is a bright side the freshman safety got some big time experience and looked good.
Northwestern, if they can pick up the pieces, still has the opportunity to spoil someones season and upset a team or two down the line. As of right now, the only team they would be favored against would be Chippewa and that may be wishful thinking.

Its a rough Saturday Morning in Huskyland.

Players get credit for wins-coaches take the losses. Play calling has been suspect for the last three years. The talent and experience is available and these kids can compete in this league-the guys with the headsets need to quit coaching for the "moments" and start coaching for wins. The natives are getting restless in West Salem.

How long is Neer out for? One guy doesn't stop a loss like this but can be a much needed on field leader. There will be competition for the basement in the WCAL though. The playoff/league contenders are Dalton, Rittman, Norwayne and Hillsdale. Smithville, Waynedale, Chippewa and NW play for pride now.

As far as the Bears go, they have scored enough to win each game. The D has only forced one or two punts in the last two games while giving up 91 points. Add in an average of five turnovers/game and you won't win anything. At least Smithville or Waynedale will get a win next week as they face off. Right now I have to give the edge to Smithville who will only have to run the ball to score 30-40 points. Any word if Roseler will be back?

This is easily the craziest WCAL season I can ever remember. Normal league powers are looking pitiful. Normal cellar dwellers are looking tough. Players are getting hurt. It's just been and will continue to be a crazy season!

I'll be the first to say I don't know much about the NW coach or staff but from the games I have seen them play I will say the play calling is extremely suspect. They are a much better team than they have shown the last couple years.

As far as Roseler if he is still having headaches a week later, I don't see a parent or a coach with a brain letting a kid with three prior concussions back on the field anytime this year. He could already have some permanent damage as most kids are feeling better in 2-4 days. That is too bad.

Best wishes to the Rittman kids the rest of the way. They have been beaten on for three years and now is their time to shine. They blew this ridiculas platooning system Waynedale has tried right out of the water. Play your best eleven kids on offense, defense and special teams if you want to win. Bauman, Rufener, Dotterer all of them never come off the field and looked like they were getting better as the game went on. We have so many substitutions going on I don't think the kids know half the time what they are supposed to be doing.

Lets just say that sometimes in life you have to change the way you do things in order to get a positive result. I think we all agree that the game of Football is a lot like life. NW has had and currently has tons of talent. The spread offense has never worked and will never work with these boys. Every play that NW has lined up in a two or three back system we have gotten 4+ yards. When you line up in the spread with one back we are probably as one scout in the stands said this year "The easiest team in the state to defend against"..........Please coaches..Enough is enough....Enough with the Negative Motivation and enough with the 4 Play spread. You have the talent...Line it up and play some smash mouth FOOTBALL!! And as for all the Freshmen and Sophomores who are doing so great at the freshmen and JV Levels....These Seniors were undefeated also in Eighth Grade and Did awesome in freshmen and JV too....We lined it up and played smashmouth then...........Why Change somethin that worked.......Don't cheat these Seniors .............It's time to CHANGE!!

Let me say this about Dalton. I just watched their youth team play Triway at West Holmes and their youth team runs the same offense as the varsity team. No wonder they have it down pat when they get to HS.

Good program over there.

That's because Billker got involved in it. Has met with youth coaches. And prinicipal, while the youth teams are not attached to the schools in any way, also puts in his opinions. Phillips also has some tressel connections.

I normally do not post in things like this but I am so upset with our Huskie coaching staff that I had to register and agree with the above poster. What a shame these kids are getting the short end of the stick because the coaching staff refuses to change their "style" from the last couple of years. We are extremely loaded with seniors and enormous talent but we have become as predictable as anyone I have ever seen. If you can predict the sun coming up in the morning, you can predict what play we run 80% of the time....draw up the middle. We have 2 seniors and at least one junior capable of getting it to the house, but we refuse to throw it to them for some reason. Our coaching staff has given up on these kids already and not even giving them a chance.

Our defense has been stellar most of the year with some great play, but we decided to change the defense this past week which added to our confusion.

Our talent level on this team is better than the last 3 years, what a shame they will go down because our headsets are too proud of the system to try anything else. I guess it is way easier to tell the kids they messed up the defense, did not play with hustle and that is why they lost......which is what one kid said they told them on Saturday morning film review. Who holds these coaches accountable?
