Watching the Big East game today and Rautins is talked about as a great shooter. He is currently 2-4 from deep.
On the season:
Rautins: 11.6 ppg/4.8 apg/3.2 rpg/39% 3P/81% FT
Diebler: 12.6 ppg/1.6 apg/2.9 rpg/42% 3P/86% FT
Both have similar games.
The main question, who would you want on your team and why?

Rautins is a MUCH better passer and facilitator and a better defender.

Interesting comparison. IF you have a good PG already on your team I'd take Diebler. If you need an assist type guy to distribute the ball more, Rautins.

Rautins.
Both are knock down 3pt shooters, Rautins passes and rebounds better(And yes they play a zone almost exclusively so you cant use that to defend Diebler in this case)

I think its the system of Syracuse that makes him better. Throw 6'6 Diebler in that zone with all those athletes and I think you change your tune. Syracuse' zone is the best in the nation.

Is he a much better passes based on numbers or actual talent?
Based on numbers could be due to Turner controlling the ball for OSU all the time while Syracuse uses a balanced system.

Its not like OSU doesnt have athletes in their Zone....
ET, a post player who is a great shot blocker and 7'5 wing span, Buford and Lighty are both freak athletes as well

Rautins. I think he is a better passer and ball handler. Diebler might be his equal with another year.The main question, who would you want on your team and why?

Talent-wise I think both are pretty close, but if you gimme the choice of one of them to hit a clutch shot, gimme Rautins.

With those saying its not even close, it sure seems close to me.
Diebler scores more, shoots better, and basically rebounds the same if you round the number (3.2 to 2.9).
Assists are more by Rautins.

Diebler may score more, but it's not like it's a huge difference, and Rautins can score in more ways than Diebler can, IMO. Diebler may shoot better, but it's not a ginormous difference. Not to mention, Rautins averages just over 2 steals a game. BTW, I feel Rautins is better but I just wanted to see how people really thought of Diebler with his numbers comparable to Rautins.
Both are similar players, white guys with big noses who can shoot the 3.

First off, there is a HUGE difference from being a complimentary player, and the guy who runs the show. Rautins runs the show. Diebler floats around waiting for someone to find him for an open shot.
Secondly, the Big East is a better conference than the Big 10, so Rautins stats are slightly more impressive if they were identical.
Thirdly, Rautins was a 5th team All American. Diebler, I don't think, was even All Big 10.
Lastly, the only aspect of the game that Diebler could be considered better at is shooting, and shooting alone.

I haven't seen Rautins play enough to determine who is better. Based on stats, it look as though his game is a little more well rounded the Dielber. But Rautin is also 23yrs of age, a redshirt senior with quite a bit of experience in playing for Canadian national teams for a few years. So with this experience, I would think he should be a little better.
