Tuesday @ 7:00
Malvern (15-7) vs Rosecrans (14-8)

Wednesday @ 7:00
Hiland (18-4) vs Shadyside (22-0)

I will go with Malvern and Hiland in the final. Hiland no doubt has the tougher road.

at least the IVC teams aren't playing each other again in the first game. Looks like the "coin flip" went our way this year ;)

Lol everyone writing off Rosecrans and Shadyside. Anyone Else happy to see Hiland Shadyside and Rosecrans all back in Meadowbrook where they belong? Hoping Shadyside beats Hiland as we have a score to settle with Shadyside, but another red and black battle would be awesome.

Hiland has had its issues, but if they play with toughness and confidence, they can come out of Meadowbrook. Problem is the toughness and confidence has been come and go. Hiland is a year away from being a state-contending team, but that doesn't mean they can't make some noise this year if they pull together. If they have Dylan, Burch, Boyd, Yoder, Jalen and the others playing well, they will be a handful for anyone, and not an easy out even if they aren't playing well. I have my doubts about them winning Wed night, but I'm hoping for another all-IVC final.

That was quite a streak of solid match ups. Especially the 99 district championship. Both teams get red hot in the second half. Hiland scored about 70 points in that second half. Rosecrans scored just a handful less. Best high school basketball game I ever attended.

^^^Me too. I just remember that Rosecrans had the 2 kids that combined for about 75 points.

mirg...how about Malvern being back where they belong? This is their fourth straight year at Meadowbrook.

I would love a re-match of the 2007 district final, but with a slightly different outcome this time :)

I hate to see a grown man cry! :)

JLG, I didn't see anyone crying after the 07 game, but I was worried about all those people in green driving home while in shock!

The old coach Perry Reese Jr. would call them (Mental Midgets) which is exactly how they have played at times, I totally agree if they bring it and play as a team it doesn't matter how young they are they will be a tough out....

Rosecrans 49
Malvern 44

I guess Big Mirg was right. We should not write off the Rosecrans.

Now I really hope Hiland can pull out the win tomorrow. This could re-ignite a district series similar to decade ago. Both Hiland and Rosecrans are very young. This could be interesting.

Coach Reese did say years ago that they were "spoiled". He cited that they drove better cars to school than he did. He set out to make them tough-minded. Some guys on his early teams would say that no coach in present days could get away with what he did to them, and he backed off with his later teams, but those kids were tough all the way through.

Saying these Hawks are "mental midgets" implies that they aren't intelligent. They are smart and good kids. I hate the war analogies when it comes to sports, but I think a fight analogy is accurate. In a fight, you have to be tough, stand in there when it isn't going well, hang together, watch each other's backs, and get as mean as you have to. Not sure our kids are cultured that way, and that creates a unique challenge for our coaching staff.

I agree best High school game ever, well maybe #2 behind '92 State Semis vs Lima Central Catholic.

i think the bishops number 10 ended up with 21 points and id say at least 8 assists...id say he accounted directly for 40 of the 49 points...not taking anything away from them but hes honestly all they have, contain him and its along night for the rosecrans...

sounds from the way AM 1240 was calling the game that Rosecrans has had their own foul shooting woes for the season. if Hiland can pull it out tonight, it might be interesting from the line alone on Saturday

Winner of tonights game goes to Canton. Rosecrans is good, but no match for Hiland or Shadyside. Malvern played awful and it showed. #10 drove the lane and baseline all night with no one stepping in front or stopping him baseline. Malverns shooting woes hurt them also.

Good luck to the Hawks
