Ewok is FAR from a blind homer (responding to SYL). He's probably the MOST objective Steeler fan on here. He's actually one of maybe two Steeler fans that I'd sit down with and buy a beer for (without spitting in it). ;)
If it's a Leinenkugel's Fireside Nut Brown......you're on. :)

The feeling is mutual. You hate my team and I hate your team...........but that doesn't mean that we can't respect each other. It is possible to push that hatred to the background for a bit to be somewhat objective and reasonable.
Only beer I drink which means I only drink about one time of the year. :D

I'm not defending Capone what so ever but you're a complete ass wipe "strap on". The name calling and bashing is one thing but accusing someone of being a pedophile is going too far in my book.

I've learned to ignore strap on. He sounds like an immature little punk.
And yes, the accusations shouldn't be allowed on here.

I heard that Holmes thing on the radio this morning. The Orlando police refused to write a report. Sounds like BS on her part. Not because he's a Steeler and I'm a fan but the police didn't think it was necessary to write a report so what really could've happened?

They didn't want to take him in for throwing liquid in her face. I've seen it happen at bars and the cops just tell them to go home.

I had a girl throw a drink in my face last summer. She thought I was someone else when I bumped into her. Oh yeah...I was also temporarily blinded.

Anyone know a good lawyer? I need to file a civl suit ASAP.

So basically it's not a big deal and the cops tend to handle it that way.

That law suit was filed days ago and when the Steelers PR man was aked about it today during team workouts, he had no comment because the orginazation had in fact just found out about it today.

Holmes isn't a saint by any stretch but this sounds like complete BS to me.

Yep. Look for him to settle out of court. It's not a big deal, but will probably get sat for a game just because of his past. I wouldn't think of it as a big deal no matter what player did it, because in the normal world, absolutely nothing would come of it.

I understand Steeler fans trying to downplay a seemingly non-issue, I really do. Tossing liquid in someones face because they won't give up their spot on the couch I guess isn't a big deal except the glass that contained the liquid followed shortly after.

I guess I'm in the minority that think the Rooney's and Goodell might view both of these cases as failure to control, multiple incidents by two different players that are clearly detrimental to the team/NFL. I suppose Steeler fans could look favorably on the Santonio issue as at least Goodell and the Rooneys will have one player they can "set example" with other than their starting QB. With the focus "appearances" by the league (Goodell) I would find it quite amazing were there NO infractions imposed by him or the Rooney's.

Just my opinion. Rip me apart.

I'm not trying to downplay anything. He's a moron, that's for sure, but I've seen this happen tons of times in bars and the cops NEVER do anything about it. To say that a he said/ she said no police report incident is going to get a player released is funny. I would say that about any player at any program.

It's a non-issue, were it an issue it wouldn't have waited two weeks. My point lies more with appearances that the league and Goodell are puting forth. Now there are 2 players from one team with similar issues in treating women poorly in public, whether they're true or not IS NOT the issue I think Goodell will focus on, rather the appearance of impropriety. Doesn't mean it's right, just what I think the league is looking to avoid now and in the future, at least under Goodell.

The Holmes thing would carry less weight if he didn't already have a poor history.

He's not credible. Period.

Now, do I think there's anything here that in and of itself is worth a bunch of attention? Nope. Just saying that with Big Jen and Santonio you've got two guys WITH A HISTORY of doing stupid things. Not once or twice, but multiple times.

I don't think anyone is saying he didn't do it. I think the problem is how the girl is saying that the Orlando police pleaded with her to not file charges because he is a celebrity. They were probably both drunk and the cops most likely told them to both cut it out. Then the issue is she is suing everyone and their brother over this, she is suing the bar as well. In other words, it's the kind of incident that demands some sprints and a fine from the league, but this money grubbing women took it to another level.

I wish something would happen one way or the other. Either drop the charges or issue a warrant for his arrest. This drawn out process is a joke which leads me to believe the accusations brought against Ben are a joke.
Or it could be that Ben is trying to work out a payoff with the girl.
I was unaware that police wait to see if the offender will pay off the victim before issuing a warrant.
