Bannan filled in more than admirably in 2008 when the Rats starting DT, Kelly Gregg, was out with an injury. Gregg was healthy last year so Bannan lost reps.

Lions have only agreed with Burleson. No trade has been made yet but getting VandenBosch and Williams and liklihood of drafting Suh or McCoy should make the D-Line much much better.

I would hate for the Texans to lose Walters because he is a quality player on and off the field. Hopefully the money doesn't get stupid for his services...because Houston is a much better place for him than Cleveland.

Pros to stay in Houston

Pro Bowl QB
Pro Bowl Receiver opposite
Indoor facilities
Better weather

Pros to going to Cleveland
Money.....(big PRO)

I'm surprised the Browns haven't made a play for Dunta Robinson.

He's obviously looking for Cash which the Browns have, and would allow them to use the draft on other players.

Heard on ESPN that ATL is gonna go after Dunta strongly, they were the only team that inquired about him last year when he was franchised...and now that they dont have to offer up draft picks theyll go after him to help our crappy secondary. Doesnt hurt that hes a native of Georgia either

I am glad the Texans didn't even offer him a contract. He is not worth the money he wants. At one time, yes..but he definitely hurt the team last year with his ridiculous holdout and the "pay me Rick" incident....That is one player as a season ticket holder I am glad to see leave.

Hampton has a million dollar clause that he must meet weight requirements when reporting......pretty damned motivating to stay in shape.

steelers expect to lose clark..Dont knwo what he is asking...but his agent said they exchanged "paramters" but never got a deal.

Im thinking that when his agent gave the steelers what they were looking for they decided it wasnt worth giving him an offer because itw oulda been insulting.

Kemoeautu won't cost that much, I don't think.

He's coming off a season-ending injury.

I'm thinking they could just bring him to camp since his brother is on the team already.

Interesting pick-up of Mr. Vanden Bosch. With him and Williams, makes me wonder if the Lions are looking away from Suh now, or if they want them there as sort of a mentor.

From the Browns thread...

Here's the latest and greatest. In the past 12 hours the Browns have talked to Philly & Seattle regarding QB's & WR's.

They have talked to the reps of Walter, Bannan, Chad Pennington & Clark from Pittsburgh.

Browns are interested in Rob Sims as well.

Harrison & Shaun Rogers are available for trade.

McNabb is a real option right now and although it's a pipe dream and hold on to your ass, Brandon Marshall may be in play. We have had continued discussions with Denver since the Combine.

I think we may get Sims and as I said the only thing holding up a McNabb deal is Andy Reid.

Scott Fujita (LB-Saints) will also be in town this weekend.

The Lions have had a nice start to the free agency season. (I can't believe I just said that). Vanden Bosch and Williams will help them immensely. I know John Clayton likes the Burleson move, but I don't. $25 mill for him? What has he ever done? The guy is a #3 WR at best. Reminds me of the Browns throwing a bunch of money at Stallworth

I'm surprised the Browns would want McNabb. Obviously he's a huge upgrade, but the Browns need to build and not bring in an over the hill QB.

Who is going to make the token Adrian Peterson of the Bears joke now that Chester Taylor has signed with them?

Make no mistake, the Lions will draft either Suh or McCoy to go in the middle with VandenBosch and Williams. If they leave one of those two on board, the entire front office should be fired.

Maybe or maybe not. He will get plenty of single coverage chances with Johnson on the other side and with the Lions expecting to use Pettigrew much more this year, Burleson could have a very nice year.

The one thing a no cap can possibly do is help some of the craptacular teams get some proven talent even if they have to pay for them.

The cap was great that each team had the same amount of $$ to spend on players and ya couldnt complain that one team was spending soo much more and can get the talent.

but with the cap....a team couldnt blow a guy outta the water with an offer that no other team may match. Sure...some of the lesser teams right now, like the Lions, may overpay for guys because they have to. If money is similiar wtih a few teams, as it is many times under the cap, ya pick a team who gives you a better chance. Now a team like the Lions and say fuck it..we re gonna over pay but damnit we are getting some better proven talent.

What could really screw some teams who if going fwd what happens if the cap comes back? Will teams be smart enough to frontload these contracts into the non capped year of 2010?

This just in........even the crickets are tired of hearing themselves in the Steelers front office when it comes to signing FA's

Source is saying the Bears and Peppers are finalizing a six-year deal:

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4969071

That's a long-ass contract.

Peppers just turned 30 in Jan. I think 6 years is a little steep. I'd go 4.

Way too old for a player who has "Randy Moss syndrome" and plays "when he feels like it."

Not a FA move but per Sportscenter, Boldin traded to the Ravens.

I think I can speak for my fellow Ravens fans that this is a very nice pickup!

Not a very good trade for the Cards.

5th and Boldin

for

3rd and 4th

but Early Doucet will step in and be a top receiver next year, 70-100 catches, remember him when it comes to fantasy

Breaston will be the #2 WR. Doucet the 3rd WR. Could get 50 catches IMO. Remember, Warner wont be throwing those passes anymore.
