Looks like the Buckeyes will play their first game of the Tournament next Friday at Noon..... Now the dilemma of missing my last Stats lecture of the quarter to catch this game or not? lol..... Should be a good tournament and just maybe the Bucks could get a #1 seed after it's all said and done! Go Bucks!

Looking like Michigan/Northwestern and Iowa in the 8-9 game.

I think Northwestern has the tiebreaker over Michigan, so it will probably be Michigan as the 8 seed.

Is it a sure thing that the Bucks are the #1 seed? I know if there is a 3-way tie, the Bucks have the #1 seed, but what if MSU loses once and Purdue wins their finale? We split with the Boilers, so what is the tiebreaker? I know we beat MSU head to head, but what happens if we tie with just Purdue?

I like MSU even though Ohio State has been better as of late. Something about Tom Izzo in postseason tournaments...

Can he get over the L he took from the Buckeyes last year in the Big Ten tournament?

I would guess yes, based on my prediction

yes, OSU will be the #1 seed

if it's a 3 way tie, the tie breaker is winning percentage aginst the other 2:

OSU 2-1
Purdue 2-2
MSU 1-2

if it's a 2 way tie with MSU, we own the head to head tiebreaker

if it's a 2 way tie with Purdue, since the head to head is a tie we go to the next tie breaker, which is winning percentage against the next best team

OSU is 1-0 vs MSU
Purdue is 1-1 vs MSU
(both are 1-1 vs Wisconsin, so even if Wisconsin ended up as the next best team it would still fall back to their records vs MSU)

Just heard EVERY player Izzo has recruited to MSU, that has stayed for the full 4 years, has played in a Final Four. Impressive selling point in recruiting.

I'll go with Wisky winning the BTT. Luers is back and getting back into the swing of things.

Some would have you believe Izzo didn't care, he only cares about the NCAA tournament.

My thoughts as well. I'd rather have Purdue be the #1 seed and let them have Wisky in the Semi Final game. Leaving MSU for OSU in the Semi Finals. MSU almost lost to Penn State at home tonight.

Yeah, I do not like a semifinal matchup with Wisconsin.

The Big Ten does no favors to the #1 seed in its tournament.

Even though MSU is kicking the living crap out of a BAD MICH team today....I don't see them winning the BTT. They are way to sloppy, not consistant, and even Izzo said they have leadership and chemistry problems. If they can make the game ugly, they have a chance.
But this isn't near the same MSU team as last year, not even close IMO. I think OSU is better, and I think even Purdue on a neutral court is as good. I also believe Wisky, now healthy, is as good or better then MSU.

BTW, how bad is Michigan? 14 pts in the first half? Absolutely horrid. I can hardly watch! This program looks terrible....losing Harris (which maybe good actually) and Simms. And I don't see much talent there right now to be honest.

Yeah as much as I like how Michigan State is playing coming into the tournament I just can't go with them given their recent track record in the tournament. They haven't even been to the finals since 2000. I guess that means if they make it to the finals watch out for them in the Big Dance. I think whoever wins the likely OSU-Wisconsin matchup takes the tournament.

Not that it gets talked about much on here at all but....

The OSU women just won the Big Ten Tourny after being down 16 to Iowa.

OSU is better than MSU, no questions.
But what are you talking about Purdue on a neutral court is better than MSU. MSU just BEAT purdue AT Purdue...
Wisky being better is a good debate. We may or may never get to know, depending on how the tourney unfolds.

^^^^

And then Wisconsin, ugh. I wish we were the 2 seed instead of MSU so we could get Purdue in the semis.

Ohio State is certainly good enough to get this done. We shall see. If the Bucks come out and play the way they can, they will win the Tournament.

Yes, MSU did beat Purdue at Purdue. Just as Purdue won @ MSU. ;) And it was Purdue first game without Hummel AND more importantly MSU had an ENTIRE week to prepare for that game as well. They had a lot going for them heading into that game.
