I would say this game is over, but you never know with Minnesota.

SEE WHAT I MEAN! I soon as I said that, Minny fouls a 3-point shooter.

Looks like the Gophers finally got it done, despite trying everything they could to blow the game.

OSU vs. Illinois
Minnesota vs. Purdue

Is this now 11 years since the last time Michigan State won a Big Ten tournament title? I just don't get it. They get it done in the regular seasons and in the big dance, but never in this tourny.

I actually think Ill and Minny could both win. Not saying they will...but both are DESPERATE for a win for NCAA. So I don't think these games will be pushovers at all. I really expect a couple of very close games.
On top of that, MSU is dealing with player issues and their BTT record is not good at all. Haven't won it in 10yrs.
As I said..... ;)

Well, if Sparty were around...the excuse that Izzo puts no importance on the BTT would come out. ;)

Although, I could argue that the two times MSU did win (over 10yrs), they went on to win NCAA title and to a final four I believe. And I read an article today that Izzo was wanting this BTT to improve seeding as he thought getting a #2 was very important this year.

Anyone can say that they think two teams "could" win and then claim they were right. It would have been more impressive if you said you guaranteed that those two would win :)

MSU doesn't "get it done in the regular season" . They won last year and were part of the 3-way tie this year, but the previous 7 years they didn't win a regular season Title. As a matter of fact they averaged a 5th place finish in those 7 years.

Matta has won 3 regular season Big Ten titles in his 6 years at Ohio State. You have to go back 10 years for Izzo to have 3 Big Ten Titles.

Izzo's team always finds a way to get it done in the big dance though. Even some of those very average teams from years past have competed very well. I think MSU will be fine come tourney time and although Matta's resume looks great, I don't think he's at the Izzo level quite yet :)

It is apparent that Izzo plays for one thing and one thing only. the NCAA tournament. The Spartans have been to the Final Four twice in the last 5 years.

Yesterday , he started his 17th different starting lineup. Yesterday's line-up was a product of Chris Allen's suspension, but even 16 changes is extreme. This isn't a great MSU team, but they tied for 1st in the Big 10.

Conference tournaments are for the money coffers and the teams that don't have the resume to get into the real tournament. The top seeds have little to gain and some coaches do not put much emphasis on winning the conference tournament. I think Izzo is in that group.

Purdue down to Minnesota 7-0 early on.
