I bought gas today for .42 cent per gallon saving of $2.07 per gallon for my Jeep. A friend told me to take gas cans to get the max of 30 gallons at the discount price. I took addition 4 (5 gallon cans) filled 3 ½ cans almost ……………total was $12.60 for 30 gallons.

My wife is on this kick of buying gift cards at Giant Eagle for everything she buys at different stores now. OK this sound like a good idea because we are getting cheaper gas …….. Problem is she shopping more. This seems to be a “circle of dilemma” granted I get cheaper gas however the shopping spending also increased. This saving of $2.07 is in a one month period of buy grocery and the gift cards for buying.
Little twist is that the wife informs me that with the gift cards (fuel perks saving) and the (example) Kohl’s Cash and Kohl’s Sale Discount she is save money by spending money. Where have I heard that before? This sounds more like an abuse of the system and manipulation of the giving husband. I really don’t care ….. If it makes her happy…. no big deal
Kokl's sell ammo?

I can see where this "Fuel Perk Idea" can be a trap for over spending.[/i]

Do you use the Fuel Perk Discounts for your gas purchase?
What the best saving you have gotten on gas?

Yeah, I use the fuel discounts through Stop & Shop but I don't increase my spending b/c of it. Spending money to save money is just faulty logic in this case.

If you want cheaper gas buy it between the 14th and 20th of each month! This is when the price has receded after the first of the month fuck you very much. I have pegged this pattern and think it is very sad that big oil takes the money from the people who need it the most WELFARE and SOCIAL SECURITY.
When they do this 30 to 40 cent a gallon increase every month they make stupid money. If you say an average tank of gas is 15 gallons and they raise the price 30 cents this is about $5 a tank full difference. So then you take an average of 200 million people working and multiply that by 5 you get 1 BILLION dollars in profit from everyone filling their tank once. This is just in U.S. imagine what they really make worldwide!

yeah my dad does the same thing, he will go buy $150 in gift cards because you get double fuel perks for that, and then go back in line and buy the groceries with the giant eagle gift cards, getting additional fuel perks i believe, good way to beat the system

I usually not one to dog grammar, but I legit couldn't figure out what your sentence was supposed to say. Grammar-fail limit, thy name is incoherence.

Oil companies didn't MAKE people go take out interest only home morgages, didn't force banks to loan money to people they knew couldn't pay it back (thank you Barney Frank/ Chris Dodd!) or run up their credit cards on needless items so they could impress their friends!

Thanks for playing!

No, but the gas prices climbing to four dollars gallon didn't help people pay for the mortgages. You think the banks really showed people how much the payment was going to rise after the rates reset?

The funny thing about your statements that people forget is these people were paying for their mortgages, before they doubled!

Gas prices aren't ruining the economy, the American who HAS to have a big house, nice car, the latest gadgets, eats out everyday, has a fancy cell phone, nice clothes, etc... is what's ruined the economy.

Also, morons who think gas prices are what's ruined the economy probably doesn't help either, right?

Sorry my grammar and sentence structure is not the greatest. You probably have a college education that you are proud of, and makes you you feel good about yourself. Nothing wrong with that, you shouldn't dog others to make yourself feel better.

Gas prices had a huge part to play with the economy hurting along with the mortgage debacle. People that don't see this obviously made enough money that the high prices didn't affect them!

The loans were not interest only payments, the "teaser rates" were low and when payments doubled that is when things started getting ugly!

I DID NOT say it was all their fault, it was a group of events that led to it! "Boogie" man you probably still sleep with the light on, because your scared of the dark!

Fact....I've saved over $1400 in fuel purchases in the last 12 months. I haven't spent money for gas in 6 months. I shop at Giant Eagle but mainly the savings came from buying gift cards...something that GE encourages you to do. Both Mrs Hits and I have small cars so when we go and get our fuel perks, we take our 5 gallon cans with us to make sure we get our 30 gallons. I buy gift cards for most of my purchases. I bought almost all of my Xmas gifts on gift cards. I bought over a thousand dollars in Disney gift cards for our vacation ( I should have gotten more) and got fuel perks for all of them. If we go out to eat, we stop at Giant eagle and get a gift card. School shopping for daughter Hits?,,,,gift card for Kohl's. Need athletic equipment or shoes? ...gift card from Dick's. Printer Ink or office eqipm,ent?....gift cards from Staples or Office Max.

I buy everything on gifts cards.
