The Mariners could be very successful this season. They were 85-77 last season.
Their rotation is going to be great with Felix Hernandez, Cliff Lee, and Eric Bedard(especially if he can get back to his Orioles form).
Add in Griffey would supposedly lost weight in the off-season and is a guy people can look to. Lopez at second, Wilson at short, Gutierrez in center and Ichiro in Right.

Add in Figgins, Bradley, Johnson, and Kotchman and they should definitely be a threat in the wild card, but may also be the favorite for the AL West.

I'm personally excited. :D

The Angels still have a talented rotation and great closer, but I still question their lineup, how they will handle the loss of Figgins and whether they can produce at the same level as last year.

A lot of pressure on the likes of Howie Kendrick, Kendry Morales, Erick Aybar and Juan Rivera to repeat great seasons.

They have Milton Bradley. I don't like their chances.

they could have a really good club. Assuming Bradley gets his shit together(which isn't likely) and isn't a cancer, with Hernandez and Lee, plus the edition of Figgins, an they have Jack Wilson as well, they could be a decent ballclub.

Depends on whether or not they can score. Defensively and pitching-wise they are stacked

Fuentes is not a great closer; he was pretty rough at times last year.

The Mariners should be one of the best defensive teams in the majors and have some solid speed at the top but there isn't anyone to fear in the middle of the order. If figgins and ichiro are themselves and Byrnes, Jr., or Bradley can show some life they might have enough hitting when you consider how solid their pitching should be.

Seattle had maybe the best offseason in baseball. They should be great defensively, and if Bedard comes back strong I'd take their 1-3 starters over anyone in the AL.

I'd rather have the sure thing in Boston. They have a much deeper staff too.

Bostons rotation is probably better overall (especially since Bedard has had like 1 good year. Hes good now, but is hurt by May.)

Hernandez and Lee are better than Bostons top, but overall the rotation is not as solid.

Yeah, I don't like the Milton Bradley signing, and honestly don't know why he's still in the MLB..

Other than that, they had a GREAT offseason.. My pick to win the West.

Texas is winning the west. The best combo of pitching and hitting. They have some nice young pitching prospects

Seattle blew the pennant by releasing Branyon. Didn't they need a 3rd baseman?

I think Texas is still a year or two from being able to take over that division. The starting pitching just isn't there for me, and signing Vlad just doesn't scream "Championship!" to me.

I like Bedard, Hernandez, and Lee at the top of the rotation too. Those three guys when they're on and healthy create some very difficult matchups for hitters. Thank god in New York we don't play them 18 times a year

And getting Milton Bradley does haha? I never said Texas was winning the World Series, just the west. Which really isn't a strong division IMO.

I think Seattle has a chance to have a great top of the rotation, but I need to see more from Bedard. His performance has ranged from awful to okay since he had that one great year. If Bedard can win them 15 games then yes I see Seattle being in the thick of things

I think the Bradley acquisition could really turn out to be key for the Mariners. The guy is an on-base machine. His personality isn't fit for a big name (large fanbase) ball club. If Seattle can keep him out of the spotlight, he is capable of producing a .850+ OPS season. Sure, you may only get 120-130 games, but if you look at his numbers in '07 and '08, he can be extremely productive. I just think his last year with the Cubs was a terrible fit, especially since he started out slow.

Keeping in mind, the Mariners didn't sign Bradley. They traded Carlos Silva (aka the most overpaid waste of space) for him. You know Silva will provide you zero, while Bradley may provide you something big.

Bradley and Griffey together could be a very bad combination. Beyond that, they certainly should contend to win the west if they stay healthy.

Right over the head. Its a joke from the old place regarding TheDave. Said Broussard should play 3rd cause he is a lefty.
