My car was filthy dirty with all the snow and salt and crap we've had lately so I went to the do-it-yourself car wash down the street. I pulled into the bay and noticed the soap brush had a steady stream of water coming out of it like someone left the water on. I proceeded to do a scrub down of the car with the brush using just the water. Then I put six quarters in the machine, did the power soap wash and rinse then drove away.

Did I steal the use of the soap brush? Would you have done the same?

The water was running when I got there. I think the valve must be broken or there's a leaky washer or something. Took about 3 minutes to scrub it down. The six quarters bought me 4 minutes with the power washer.

I would say no....the water was just shooting out on the ground anyway. Regardless, you can use the brush for free anytime you want to....just spray your car with the power washer soap, wet the brush and go to town.

BUT...as gerb said, the brush is horrible on your car....I never use those things.

It's not being cheap, it's being frugal. :D

I would have done the same if I would have even noticed...

I always seem to be distracted.

Dont they leave a steady stream of water going like that, in the winter, to prevent freezing?

I would consider this to be a similiar situation to one I had:

I was playin some ball at the park when another dude spit his gum out, I immediately went over and picked it up. It still had a little taste left to it.

Am I a thief?

I always spray full pressure on the brush with the water wand for several seconds to get any debris from the brush...if you don't you are just asking for it to get scratched all over.
