I want to say thanks to devils advocate for typing out basically what I wanted to say. The only part that is anyone else's business is when he will return to competive play.

If Tiger, or golf in general, didn't have any fans, he wouldn't have a dime to his name.

People in the entertainment industry tend to forget that.

I agree with the previous few posts, I don't care about an apology or Tiger explaining himself. He doesn't owe me anything.

All I want is to see him golf again so that I have a reason to watch the Masters on a Sunday afternoon.

"He owes nothing to his sponsors, They have made plenty of money from him"

Opposite way. How much did Tiger make from them? That is so ass backwards I don't know where to begin, its like me telling my clients that pay me money "eff you, you were lucky just to have me as an advisor." Business doesn't work that way.

He's made his path. I've been a fan of his despite his weirdness, but that was a bullshit apology and in a cerebral sport like golf he's looking at a tough road ahead.

The people who have paid for said entertainment have received it. There's no additional debt owed by Mr. Woods in the form of explanation.

You are welcome. But I will disagree with you on it being anyone's business if and when he will return. It will be news, but no anyone else's business.

Have you looked at what the PGA was paying it's players in winnings before Tiger's arrival??? Have you looked at them after??? It's tremendous what HE has done for the PGA.

Have you looked at Tiger's income sources? It ain't largely from the PGA winnings. The supermajority of his income and ultimately wealth is from sponsors.

I got news for you. Augusta National will be Augusta National with or without Tiger. I'm not going this year (buddy's wedding in Dallas) but I wouldn't miss him if he decided not to show up.

On the Golf Channel they had an online poll of who you'd rather watch in a tournament "Tiger or Phil". Phil won 65%-35%. Last year it would have been Tiger 90%-10%. He's lost a lot of fans.

Why does anybody who follows Tiger expect a public apology ? I follow him allot just like anybody else does and I dont. It is something that should be between his FAMILY and friends , not the public. If it was me , I wouldnt even get on tv and apologize to anybody. Its not my business what he does on or off the golf course . He is just a athlete..do you all think he is the first golfer to do this ? i wouldn't think so.As we all know in some of these athletes think they are above everybody else in the regular working world . My belief is i always put my self in their shoes and think how i would handle it. I just saw steven smith on espn spout off like Tiger just ruin his life.

Dude you have ass backwards thinking. Tiger IS the product, so people want to sell HIM, of course it's him in the drivers seat. Tiger didn't make money from the sponsors, the sponsors thought that they could make money from HIM. He was then reimbursed with what the sponsors thought was an appropriate amount of money for using him in their advertisements.

He doesn't owe them shit.

Rick Reilly, who is really knowledgeable about the culture side of sports, thought Tiger did a great job. That's good enough for me.

IMO, he should take off however long he needs to repair his marriage, he doesn't owe anything to the PGA Tour either. His wife, and he made this VERY clear, is his clear #1 priority.

Anyone who credits todays tourney winnings to anyone but Arnie Palmer has no idea what they're talking about.

I'll buy you an internet coke if he repairs his marriage with Elin.

And Rick Reilly sucks.

I love Nicklaus, but Arnie is the SOLE reason golf is as big and mainstream in America as it is. You look at any movement to get sponsers, coverage.. anything.. and Arnie was behind it.

No, Tiger is reaping the benefits of Arnie's hard work. He didn't do a god damn thing.

There's a difference between Arnie taking golf mainstream and Tiger pushing tour salaries measurably higher than before he arrived.

They are two different points.

You're the one that has it backward. Tiger is selling the product (himself). The sponsors are his customers. He screwed his customers over through his actions, and most certainly owes them an apology at the very least.

I love Arnie, but Tiger is the SOLE reason that purses have jumped almost 200% when adjusted for inflation, solely because of Tiger's popularity.

I hate to burst your Arnie-defense/Tiger-denial bubble with facts but:
