And we know all about Zanesville, as we played them from 1991 thru 2005 (12-3 record).
And if they are not, they will get players to make them stacked.

As an outsider to this league I would have to agree that in football you have the Big Red and then everyone else. Dover has been trying for years to get up there but they have not done it. I don't think Zanedville would have been 9-1 last year if Licking Valley had their average year and St Charles played to their potential. So a stronger schedule would have resulted in another loss or two. I think having the BR in the league will force the other teams to step up their game and maybe make them better equiped to advance in the playoffs.

Sorry..I find it VERY hard to believe they want the home games for the fans. Real fans will follow their teams anywhere, regardless of where the game is played.
Exactly! That last statement should end this debate on away games; but it probably will not.
What is amazing is that a few posters try to speak for all the fans.
Cheers

I don't understand the arguement about this issue. It's a fact that the fans do follow BR anywhere to watch them play

I thought these types of comments weren't allowed?
3. No false accusations or rumor-mongering (this includes blindly accusing private or public schools of recruiting).

Where did he accuse them of recruiting? We both know what he meant, but he could also be talking about through 'open enrollment' as well.

Well, the mindset of the schools around us is "who would actually want to go downtown to school", therefore they must be recruited.

Someone please say it doesn't matter to the school what the fans want again.

I'm just surprised the school athletic council (are those the boosters?) would rebuke something Reno was in favor of.

OK. The schools don't care what the fans want. :D

so they asked to join, got the vote from the league, then turned down the invitation?

I just got information from a good source that this may not be a done deal. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

You rang? Oh... sorry... you said "Woo Hoo", not WooHaa!

This one is hard to figure out. From the get go it seemed Steubenville asked to join, but now are declining the invit. Very strange.
I'm sure somewhere there is a logical explanation.

Ferflog... where are you?

It may be the case that Big Red was unhappy that two of the five schools that would play us in football voted against our admission. You have to admit that this is not a good arrangement.

It is now up to the league. All ten members have to decide whether they want to satisfy Big Red or if they want to satisfy Cambridge and Marietta. It could go either way. There is still a chance that Big Red could join if the circumstances are better.

It doesn't matter why in the slightest. Big Red asked to join the league, and is now reneging. Epic bush league move...no way to spin it otherwise.

No, it is like applying for a job, then after going on the interview and being offered the job deciding that it is not for you.

I certainly echo those sentiments. Good work by the athletic council, which I didn't even know existed until this announcement. Who is the council comprised of, purely out of curiosity?

I think they meant the Athletic Board...which is the AD, head coaches, Principal, Super, etc...

Reno and Fred were originally in favor of joining. They are both on the council along with some of the other school administrators. I would be willing to bet that Reno was responsible for turning the ECOL down. I don't think he liked the fact that Cambridge and Marietta voted no. Why play teams that don't want to play you?

I think it was more of a case of travel for the other sports.
