Grouping all liberals into one class and coming up with seven large, general flaws has some flaws of its own.

Liberal is just a broad term that it makes little sense to say all liberals are like x or y. It is like saying all conservatives believe this or that. It is simply not true.

Take for example point 2, liberals can talk everything out with the enemies. That is simply not true, as there are liberals that believe in strong military force, but just see diplomacy as one tool in the arsenal. But, it is nice and neat to say all liberals think this way.

Rofl, what a terrible list.

Mass generalizations always=fail.

But, that is what we're seeing out of the Tea Party/Town Hall folks. Lacking in reason and facts, but never lacking in bluster and the like.

As Ptown said, one very common example is that many liberals believe in and advocate for a strong military, but also believe that Diplomacy should certainly be used as well. They can go hand-in-hand.

my favorite is...

"Liberals don't have enough respect for our culture and traditions"

What complete and utter bs.

The fact that the OP thinks this is "spot on" is disturbing as hell.

Oh.My.God.

Odd that i have so many liberal friends in the military, who obviously believe in having a strong military.

Yes. :D But, they don't represent all conservatives, so his mass generalizations are greater than mine.

What about "economic liberalism" or say, "classical liberalism"; are those mental disorders?

Tell us what you know Marty; Englighten us with your broad sweeping, true, justified beliefs about the world that are in no way clouded by any kind of confirmation bias or self-fulfilling prophecy.

Tell us what a true broad brush-stroked liberal is

So you're agreeing that there may be shades of liberalism that would overrule the premise of broad generalizations of liberalism that the clear intellectual heavyweight author in the article you linked discussed?

Marty- I pretty much disagree with every liberal on here about a lot of things except that what you are saying makes absolutely no sense and makes conservatives look stupid.

Define liberal. What is 100% liberal? Then, once we have a definition, what range or part of the spectrum are we talking about?

While we are at it, what is a conservative? What is the range and part of the spectrum for them? Is there an official definition for both terms?

Once you get into the details and start to ask question, the generalizations fall apart. No where in the article does he define a liberal, nor quantify how one is a liberal, nor on what aspect of the spectrum is the liberal he is referring to on.

Of course the generalizations fall apart when you apply specifics. You can always find the exception to the rule....that's why they are generalizations. As generalizations...they are generally true. I'm mean what do you disagree with?
That 'liberals'( in general) have enormous faith in government? That they see themselves as good people? That they think they can reason with Chavez or Iran, but villify Hannity and Limbaugh?
C'mon, look at yourselves in the mirror and make an honest appraisal.

To be honest, my first thought when reading the topic header was "seven? only seven?"....LOL
