If you were a P.E. teacher what are some of the things that you would make sure your students learned by the end of the semester?

^Yeah but diet and exersize go hand in hand... kids need to know more about food than the pyrimid. They need to know what it does for them if they are athleticly inclined.

Life isn't fair. There are some peole who are simply more physcially gifted than you and we aren't wussing up the class so you don't get hurt.

Or my new favorite quote by Dr. Gregory House M.D. "sometimes the bigger they are, the harder they kick your ass."

I would emphasize the importance of diet and exercise for a person's entire life. Carryover activities like walking, jogging, running, golf, tennis, bowling, badminton, Jazzercize, aerobics, and other sports that a person could participate in for literally their whole life to keep fit and healthy. I wouldn't be the "gym teacher" that throws out the balls and divides everyone up for dodge ball everyday. I'd also have units on ballroom dancing. square dancing, and modern dances (dances the kids actually liked..) Other things like ping pong, and weight training would also be implemented. Admittedly, this curriculum would require a lot of equipment and it would incur some cost for the district, but the question was if I were a PE teacher what would I emphasize, and these are the things I would want to include. There would be others as well, along with an academic understanding of each of these activities. This would be primarily for a senior high school PE curriculum. I also understand that I have probably listed more activities than I may be able to work in, but this curriculum represents my wish list. Incidently, I do have a Minor in Phys. Ed. and Health, only because when I was young, I mistakenly thought that I needed it if I wanted to coach. I found out rather quickly that I didn't.

Sorry CC, did not mean to offend. The era I came from, if one wore black socks with gym shoes they were a "nerd." I do realize that styles change, but I still struggle when I see that combo.

I also remember Billy Ripkin defending his brother against some sportswriters one time saying, " I bet every one of those writers wore black socks in gym class" I LMAO off that line.

I even see it in uniforms now, the look does not work for me... sorry.
