That game was also a blowout until UNC pissed down their leg
.
17 second half turnopvers will cause a team to piss down their leg.
I'm trying to figure out how a team could defeat Michigan State, hang with Kentucky in Lexington, and play this poorly.

There is no doubt that UNC's size bothered OSU, especially when Lauderdale got into foul trouble. The fact remains it was a 2 point game with 15 seconds left.

lest we forget these are college kids, not professionals. Emotion and confidence are a huge part of athletics. They have little emotion and no confidence at this point.
It will be hard to get things righted, but thankfully for Heel fans three (four for the playin game) good days in the ACC tournament could get them into the NCAA's.

Easy... other teams are improving, but they are regressing.

That is the obvious answer, but the real question is WHY.

Carolina is going nowhere in the ACC Tournament. They couldn't win it with Felton and McCants. Two ACC titles in 12 years.
However, I bet Ol Roy won't use his "I don't give a damn about the ACC Tourney" excuse this season..

They have nobody as an on court leader. It seems everyone is a follower and have no one to get on them except for the coaches. I feel pretty confident that Roy hasn't forgotten how to coach. Someone needs to step up, but I don't think its in Ed Davis or Deon Thompson's makeup to be that in your face kind of guy.

Teams never stay the same, they either get better or worse as the season progress. NC was much bettter early in the year, it's been down hill ever since.

Didn't get to watch this game today. I'd say that was a good thing. Unfortunately I did DVR it and I'm going to force myself to watch it in a few minutes.
I knew there was absolutely no way this team would win in College Park, but honestly, I expected a better performance than this. Apparently Maryland couldn't miss, especially that damn Vasquez, but that's still no excuse for losing by 21.
Several others have mentioned it, but this team has certainly regressed as the season has unfolded. They showed signs of this Carolina team even in the wins against OSU and MSU by blowing HUGE leads, but as Jay Bilas said a few days ago, this team was twice as good in late Nov/early Dec than they are now.
13-10 now. 8 games left, and needing 6 wins to have any shot at getting an NCAA bid, ACC Tournament excluded. Like I've been saying, I expected some struggles this year, but not this. Hopefully with Duke in the house, and Hansbrough's jersey retirement on Wednesday, these guys will show some heart and emotion and begin to turn things around. If they can't get up for that game and ceremony, nothing will turn this situation around.

Carolina fans are fully expecting the team to lose to Duke, and Duke fans are fully expecting this to be a real nail biter with it being a toss up who wins.
One fan base is beleaguered, one is cautiously optimistic.

After watching the game, Carolina actually played fairly well up until the 12 minute mark of the 2nd half, even with Maryland shooting the lights out.
After the first 8 minutes of the 2nd half, the wheels fell off. Too many turnovers, missing easy shots, etc.
I can't say that they didn't play with intensity and heart, because they did. They just didn't execute at all down the stretch and Maryland played much better basketball when it mattered most.
It was nice to see Ginyard finally play a decent game. The Heels will really need Marcus and Deon to play well on Wednesday if they're gonna have any chance against Duke.
And finally, barring a meeting in the ACCT, I never have to watch Vasquez play Carolina again. VERY happy about that.
