What does the advent of the internet have to do with the arrogance of some fans? I have observed this for many years before the internet, but I also have attended many big red athletic events. I used to like watching their teams, but do not like dealing with their fans. As far as the racial slurs, I mostly hear about them from big red fans trying to find reasons why they are not liked or revered by everyone.
Just yesterday at a Steubenville track meet, a bus driver approached the gate and identified himself as a bus driver for the event. The person at the gate still wanted $5 to allow him to enter. Bus drivers who transport teams to athletic events are never charged admission to the events. Just another reason to dislike big red.
And I have had to work multiple sporting events at the High School and at Harding Stadium... Had to pay for everything even though I was "required" to be there. And all I wanted was a water since the water fountains were turned off for the event. :/
I can understand at a football game if you want something other than water you will have to pay for it, But at those wrestling matches that sometimes run for 6-8 hours... Water and a slice of pizza shouldn't be $3.50. Watched countless kids from the Steubenville Schools walk right up and get what they want without paying... I am just hoping thats covered in their lunch plan of something because its pretty crappy to charge people that are required to be there for water, but give it to your students, faculty, and "buddies" for free.
