I work in a Dr's office and the last 10 people who have come through the door are all asking if we've heard about the big storm. Each person has heard a different amount. People crack me up.

I know when I was in grade school, the buses would just put chains on their tires and off to school we went. I think once or twice our bus got stuck and another bus came for us to transfer onto to get home.
Schools can't do that anymore. Too many lawsuits and the DoT says that the chains tear up the roads.
So, we HAVE become wussified and lawyerfied.

Better get to the grocery store soon. I remember when I worked at a grocery as a kid, every time a storm was predicted we got slammed. Were the peole buying meat, vegtables, cereal, etc.? No they were buying chips, Pepsi, and cigarettes.

Just think of how high state gas taxes and other taxes would be to cover increased road maintenance if chains were still allowed around here. Eh... every time they have one of these "changeover" storms (rain changing to snow), you can usually count on getting no more than half of what they forecast.
I'd really rather see a 4"-6" snowfall than all these dustings we seem to get in the Columbus area - when we get "real snow", people actually pay attention to their driving. What seems cause problems are the situations in which ten percent of the drivers slow down to 35 mph on the freeway, while another ten percent think that it's still sunny and 72 degrees .

All speculation right now but I think the middle 2/3 of Ohio gets 5-10 in with lesser amounts down near Cinci, up by Toledo and over to Cleveland.

My wife is headed to Dayton late Saturday morning. Headed right down 75. So if there is the strong winds, I don't think I'm gonna let her go.
